To capture an entire webpage, including content below the visible screen, install a compatible full-page screenshot extension, open the page, start the extension’s capture, and wait for it to scroll through and assemble the page. Inspect the finished image or PDF before saving or sharing it: dynamic content, very long pages, and embedded frames may not capture perfectly.
Choose an extension that supports your browser
Use your browser’s own add-on store and check the extension’s current listing before installing it. Confirm the publisher, supported browser, requested permissions, and available export formats. Support and features can change, so do not assume an extension listed for one browser will work in another.

GoFullPage says it is available for Edge and Firefox as well as Chrome. Its official site documents that cross-browser availability. OpenCapture lists Chrome, Edge, and Firefox support in its Mozilla Add-ons listing. These are publisher and listing statements, not the result of comparative testing.

Capture and save a full webpage
- Install the extension. Find it in the add-on store for your browser, review its listing and permissions, and add it to the browser.
- Open the webpage. Wait for the content you need to appear. Pages that load more material as you scroll may depend on how the site and extension handle that behavior.
- Start the full-page capture. Select the extension’s toolbar icon. GoFullPage also describes using its shortcut; check the current extension listing for the applicable shortcut and controls.
- Wait for capture and assembly to finish. Avoid navigating away or changing the page during capture. GoFullPage describes scrolling through visible portions and assembling them into a result.
- Review the output. Look for missing sections, repeated content, sticky elements, or information you did not intend to include.
- Choose an available format and save. GoFullPage and OpenCapture describe image and PDF exports. The exact choices may depend on the extension version.
- Protect private information before sharing. Redact sensitive details. OpenCapture lists blur and annotation features, but their availability can vary by version.
What to expect from the result
Long or unusually tall pages
A very large capture may exceed a tool’s single-image handling. GoFullPage says exceptionally large captures can be split into multiple images in separate tabs, rather than delivered as one image.

Dynamic content and embedded frames
A scrolling capture is not a guarantee that every page element will appear. Content loaded only after interaction, embedded frames, or pages that change while the extension scrolls can affect the result. Check the saved output rather than assuming the full page was captured correctly.
Privacy and processing
OpenCapture says processing takes place locally in the browser. That is the publisher’s statement, not independently audited security evidence. For any extension, review its permissions and the current listing’s explanation of processing and storage before capturing sensitive pages.

Troubleshooting
- The capture is missing lower sections: Wait for the capture to finish, then inspect the output. If the page loads content as you scroll, try again after allowing the page to settle; results depend on how the page and extension handle lazy loading.
- Some sections repeat or sticky elements appear oddly: Review the assembled image for repeated or fixed page elements. A scrolling capture may not reproduce every dynamic page exactly.
- The extension produces several images instead of one: GoFullPage says exceptionally large captures may be split into separate images. Use the resulting parts if one file is not available.
- You cannot find the extension’s icon or shortcut: Check the browser’s extension controls and the current store listing for the extension’s toolbar and shortcut instructions. Exact browser-specific controls are not established here.
- You need a PDF but only see an image: Check the extension’s current export options. GoFullPage and OpenCapture describe PDF output, but available controls can depend on the version.
- You are capturing sensitive content: Review permissions and processing claims first, then redact private information before sharing. Do not treat a vendor’s local-processing statement as an independent security audit.
When an extension is the right approach
A browser extension is a straightforward choice when you want to capture a page you are viewing and save the result as an image or PDF. If the page is unusually long or interactive, verify the result carefully; the documented workflows do not guarantee a perfect capture on every site.
