Load the posts you want into the thread first, then use your browser’s Print or Save to PDF command and inspect the saved file. Infinite-scroll pages may only fetch posts as you move through them, so a PDF export alone does not prove the whole discussion was captured.
Load and verify the posts before printing

Open the exact thread and sign in if the posts require an account. Identify the first post you want to preserve.

Scroll downward in stages. Pause at each loading boundary and wait for the next batch of posts to appear before continuing. Keep going until the thread ends or the site stops loading the range you need.

If posts are inside their own scrollable panel, scroll that panel rather than only the browser window. Some pages load content only when that inner panel reaches its boundary.

Check the loaded thread before printing. Confirm that the intended first and last posts appear, and note any loading error or unexpected stop.
This is a practical workflow, not a guarantee: forum implementations differ. Some reuse a limited set of page elements as you scroll, so posts that were visible earlier may disappear from the rendered page. If that happens, prefer explicit pagination, a site-provided export, or a site-specific automation workflow that saves each segment.

Save the thread with browser Print to PDF

Open the browser’s Print command and choose its PDF destination. In Firefox, the destination is called “Save to PDF.”

Review the print preview before saving. Check that the intended posts appear and adjust page range, paper size, orientation, scale, margins, headers and footers, or backgrounds where the browser offers those controls.

Save the PDF, open it, and inspect the first and last intended posts, their sequence, page breaks, timestamps, usernames, and links.
Print layout may differ from the on-screen page. Mozilla’s Firefox printing help describes PDF output and print controls and cautions that pages may display differently on paper than on screen.

Automate PDF creation with Playwright
Playwright’s page.pdf() generates a PDF using print CSS. Its separate fullPage: true option applies to screenshots, not PDF generation. The forum-loading logic is site-specific; the example below shows where to put it, but does not assume a universal selector or loading mechanism.

Install Playwright and its Chromium browser using the official installation guide, then save this as capture-thread.js. Replace the URL and adapt loadDesiredPosts() to the forum’s ordinary interface. Use an authorized browser context for threads that require sign-in; do not put passwords or session cookies directly into a shared script.

})();The example intentionally stops rather than pretending a generic scroll loop can detect every forum’s loading boundary or end condition. Implement and test those checks against the actual thread. Playwright documents options including paper format, scale, and background printing; if you specifically need screen-media styling, emulate screen media before calling page.pdf(). Its screenshot API documents fullPage: true for a screenshot of the full scrollable page, which is not a substitute for its PDF route.
Long threads, virtualization, and reliability

Do not assume a single full-page capture includes an unbounded feed. The page may render only the currently loaded posts or recycle elements as you scroll.

If moving back upward shows earlier posts have vanished, the final rendered page may not contain the complete discussion. Use pagination or an export if available, or save each loaded segment with site-specific automation and assemble or print the complete record.

For recurring captures, make the script verify the intended first and last post before exporting, then check the PDF itself. A successful export call is not a completeness check.
Troubleshoot missing or malformed output
