Use wait_for_selector separately if the element may appear late: it waits for the element but does not choose what gets captured.
Capture one element with CaptureKit
CaptureKit’s capture endpoint reference describes selector as capturing a specific element instead of the full viewport. The request is a hosted API call, so you do not need to launch or manage a browser locally.

Choose the right selector and wait behavior
selector chooses the capture target
Use selector for the element you want in the screenshot. For example, .product-card targets elements with that class in ordinary CSS syntax; choose a selector that matches the relevant element on your own page. The endpoint reference describes the parameter as a string but does not specify how multiple matches are handled or what happens when there is no match. Test the selector against the target page rather than assuming a particular match rule.
wait_for_selector waits for an element to appear
Use wait_for_selector when the page renders the target after initial navigation. It serves a different purpose from selector: one waits for an element to appear, while the other chooses the element to capture. If the same element is both the target and the late-loading signal, pass its selector to both parameters.

Choose a readiness condition appropriate to the page; if a brief additional pause is needed, the documented delay range is 0–10 seconds. A delay is not a substitute for waiting for a known element when that element’s appearance matters.
Set output and page context when needed
Start with the endpoint’s defaults unless the capture requires a particular format or rendering context. CaptureKit documents these additional controls:

Output: PNG is the default. JPEG, JPG, WebP, and PDF are also listed; image quality is documented for JPEG and WebP.

Viewport and device: set viewport width and height, use device emulation, or adjust scale factor when the element’s layout depends on screen size or pixel density.

Page extent: use full-page mode when you need the entire page, and lazy-load scrolling when content appears as the page scrolls. Element targeting and full-page capture address different needs; choose the option that matches the output you want.

Use the exact parameter names and allowed values from the CaptureKit endpoint documentation for these options. The reference states that a call uses one credit; it does not establish current plan prices.

The screenshot shows the viewport rather than the intended element: check that the request includes

The target is absent because it loads late: add
wait_for_selectorfor a selector expected to appear, then choose a suitablewait_untilcondition. Use a short documented delay only when a small extra pause is appropriate.Best Value

The image is clipped or laid out differently than expected: check viewport width and height, device emulation, and scale factor. The page may render the target differently under another viewport.

Content appears only after scrolling: review the full-page and lazy-load scrolling options if you need content beyond what initially renders.

The request is rejected for authentication: verify that the API key is present in the

The selector does not seem to work: inspect the target page and test the selector there. CaptureKit’s endpoint reference does not specify unmatched-selector errors or multiple-match behavior, so do not rely on an undocumented outcome.
