How to Capture a Webpage Screenshot with Urlbox Without the Browser Toolbar

To keep the browser toolbar out of a Urlbox screenshot, save or display Urlbox’s rendered output directly instead of taking a screenshot of the browser window around it. The toolbar belongs to the browser application, not the webpage, so Urlbox’s page-level hide and CSS options cannot remove it. If the unwanted bar is part of the page itself, those options can target it.

Capture the page, not the browser window

Urlbox renders the webpage and returns an image or other configured output. Use that render as your screenshot; do not capture a desktop or browser-window screenshot that includes the surrounding application interface. Choose what part of the webpage to capture

Hide a bar that is part of the webpage

A site navigation bar, sticky header, or other element rendered inside the page can be targeted with Urlbox’s hide option or removed through injected CSS using the css option. Identify the element’s selector in the browser’s developer tools, then apply it to the Urlbox render. A selector that works on one site may not work on another, so check the resulting image.

These controls cannot hide Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or another browser’s application toolbar because that interface is outside the rendered page.

Check Urlbox-added headers

If the unwanted material is a URL or timestamp displayed above the rendered image, check that show_url and show_timestamp are not enabled. Those options add information to the output; they are distinct from the browser toolbar.

Capture a full page from the command line

Choose the right full-page behavior

Urlbox’s default full-page mode is stitch: it scrolls the page, triggers lazy-loaded content, captures sections, and stitches them together. Urlbox describes it as optimized for accuracy. The native mode is faster, but may be less accurate on some pages.

• freeze_fixed controls how fixed elements are handled during a stitched capture. Sticky or fixed webpage elements can otherwise appear repeatedly between sections; Urlbox says its heuristics detect most such elements.
• skip_scroll disables the initial scroll used to trigger lazy-loaded content. It may make rendering faster, but can leave lazy content unloaded.
• For infinite-scroll pages, Urlbox limits captured sections by default when it detects infinite scrolling. allow_infinite can override that behavior.
• max_height, full_width, and image-dimension constraints are relevant when page length, horizontal scrolling, or output dimensions require limits.

Troubleshoot common toolbar and capture problems

• The browser toolbar still appears: You are likely capturing the browser window or desktop around the Urlbox result. Use the rendered image output itself; page CSS cannot remove application chrome.
• A site header remains in the image: It is probably webpage content. Target its actual selector with hide or custom CSS, then verify the result against that page’s markup.
• A URL or timestamp appears above the page: Check whether show_url or show_timestamp is enabled.
• Lazy-loaded content is missing: For full-page captures, avoid disabling the initial scroll with skip_scroll unless you have confirmed the page loads the content another way.
• Sticky elements repeat in a full-page image: Review freeze_fixed and the page’s fixed or sticky elements; behavior can vary by site.
• An infinite-scroll page is shorter than expected: Urlbox applies a default section limit when it detects infinite scrolling. Consider whether allow_infinite is appropriate for the page.
