To capture a full web page in Chrome Guest Mode on a desktop, open the page in a Guest window, open DevTools Device Mode, then choose More options > Capture a full size screenshot. For just a selected region, use DevTools’ Command Menu and choose Capture area screenshot. Guest Mode keeps the session separate from your usual Chrome profile; it does not make browsing anonymous or delete screenshot files you save.
Open the page in a Chrome Guest window
- On a Windows, Mac, or Linux computer, open Chrome and select the profile control at the top right.
- Choose Guest profile. If the option is missing, Guest Mode may be unavailable on the device or disabled by an administrator.
- Go to the web page and wait for the content you want to capture to load.
Google’s instructions for browsing as a guest cover the desktop process and its privacy limits. Guest Mode is not the same as Incognito Mode. Google says Guest Mode is unavailable on Chromebooks and mobile devices; a Chromebook can still take a device-level screenshot, but that is not Chrome Guest Mode.

Capture the full page or a selected area
Take a full-page screenshot
- Open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows or Linux, or Command+Option+I on Mac.
- Turn on Device Mode using the phone-and-tablet icon in DevTools, or press Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+M on Mac.
- In the Device Mode toolbar, open More options and select Capture a full size screenshot.
- Save the downloaded image where you want it.
This captures page content beyond the visible viewport. The separate Capture screenshot option captures only the visible viewport. See Chrome’s Device Mode documentation for the distinction.
Capture a selected rectangle
- Open DevTools and make sure it is docked in the browser window; the area-capture command requires docked DevTools.
- Open the Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac.
- Type screenshot, choose Capture area screenshot, and drag around the part of the page you want.
- Save the resulting downloaded image.

What Guest Mode does—and does not—keep private
When the Guest window closes, Chrome deletes local browsing history, cookies, and site data for that session. It does not promise to remove screenshot files you downloaded, and it does not hide activity from the websites you visit, signed-in services, the device owner, an employer or school managing the network, your internet provider, or search engines. Google advises caution on shared devices; sign in to sensitive accounts only on devices you trust. See Google’s Guest Mode guidance.
Guest Mode can also be controlled by organizational policy, so a managed computer may not offer it. Follow your administrator’s rules if Guest Mode or DevTools is disabled; do not assume another capture method is permitted. Chrome’s enterprise policy documentation describes administrator controls.

Guest profile is not in the profile menu
Guest Mode is not available on Chromebooks or mobile devices, and an administrator may disable it on a managed computer. Use a supported desktop setup or ask the device administrator what is allowed.

Capture area screenshot is missing or will not start
Check that DevTools is docked in the browser window, reopen the Command Menu, and search for screenshot. Chrome’s area-capture workflow depends on docked DevTools.
The screenshot stops at the bottom of the visible window
You likely chose Capture screenshot, which captures the viewport. Use Capture a full size screenshot from Device Mode’s More options menu to include content below the fold.

A downloaded screenshot is still on the computer after closing Guest Mode
Guest Mode clears browser session information, not files you explicitly downloaded. Delete or move the screenshot yourself if needed, subject to the device owner’s or organization’s policies.
Chrome on Android blocks a screenshot in Incognito
Google’s Android guidance describes a restriction for Incognito mode, not desktop Guest Mode. It suggests opening the page in another tab to take a screenshot. See Google’s Android Incognito help. Guest Mode itself is unavailable on mobile.
