To capture an authenticated Indian web page with Selenium, complete the site’s legitimate OTP login in the same WebDriver session, wait for a page-specific sign that the protected content is ready, then save the screenshot. In Python, use driver.save_screenshot("authenticated-page.png") for the current browser view. Selenium does not bypass OTP, and login steps, selectors, redirects, and automation rules vary by site.
Capture the page in the same session that completes OTP login
OTP authentication and screenshot capture are separate steps. Sign in through the site’s ordinary flow, complete the one-time challenge under the account holder’s control, and continue in the same browser session after the protected destination appears. The example below leaves the site’s login and OTP interactions for you to implement; no target site or universal Indian-site login flow can be assumed.
This illustrative Python structure uses Selenium 4-style imports and Chrome. Replace the example address and selector with the authorized site and a meaningful element on its authenticated page. It is a template, not a tested script for a particular website.
from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.common.by import By
from selenium.webdriver.support.ui import WebDriverWait
from selenium.webdriver.support import expected_conditions as EC
options = webdriver.ChromeOptions()
options.add_argument("--window-size=1440,1000")
driver = webdriver.Chrome(options=options)
try:
driver.get("https://authorized.example/")
# Complete the site's legitimate login and OTP flow here.
# Continue after the authenticated destination is reached.
WebDriverWait(driver, 20).until(
EC.visibility_of_element_located((By.CSS_SELECTOR, "main h1"))
)
driver.save_screenshot("authenticated-page.png")
finally:
driver.quit()
Install Selenium and configure a compatible browser and driver for your environment before running the template. Selenium’s Python API documents the screenshot methods and their output forms at the WebDriver API reference.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Wait for authenticated content, not just navigation
A page reaching the browser’s complete ready state—or driver.get() returning—does not establish that a JavaScript application has finished rendering the content you need. Selenium notes that applications can update the page after the initial document load. Use an explicit wait for an expected state, such as a visible heading unique to the protected page or a loading indicator disappearing. See Selenium’s waiting strategies and browser options documentation.
- Identify an element or state that means the authenticated page is actually usable, not merely that a generic shell has loaded.
- Wait for that condition with
WebDriverWaitand an expected condition suited to the element. - Take the screenshot only after the condition succeeds. If the page loads data asynchronously, choose a condition tied to that data or its completed loading state.
A fixed sleep can waste time when the page is quick and still be too short when it is slow. Avoid combining implicit and explicit waits: Selenium warns that mixing them can produce unpredictable wait times.

Choose the screenshot scope and output
| Need | Method | What it provides |
|---|---|---|
| Visible browser view saved as a PNG | driver.save_screenshot("page.png") |
Writes the current browser view to a PNG file. |
| Visible browser view saved as a PNG, with a success value | driver.get_screenshot_as_file("page.png") |
Writes a PNG file; the API documents False for an I/O error. Use a filename ending in .png. |
| Image data for further processing | Driver PNG-bytes method | Returns screenshot bytes rather than requiring a file first; see the Python API reference. |
| Image content to embed or transmit as text | Driver base64 method | Returns base64 output; see the Python API reference. |
| One particular visible component | Call the screenshot method on its WebElement |
Captures the selected element rather than the whole visible browser view. Refer to Selenium’s windows and tabs documentation. |
The standard current-window screenshot should not be assumed to capture an entire long, scrollable document in every browser. If you need a full-page image, verify support for the browser and capture method in your chosen environment before relying on it.
Troubleshoot common results
- The screenshot shows a login page. Confirm that OTP succeeded in this same driver session and that navigation reached the protected URL rather than a login redirect. A login flow that opens a separate window can also leave the driver on the original context; Selenium documents window and tab handling at Working with windows and tabs. The exact diagnosis depends on the site.
- The page shell appears but account content is missing. Wait for the relevant content or loading state. Document readiness alone is not enough for a dynamically rendered page.
- The expected element never appears. Check that the selector matches the authenticated page, the OTP flow completed, and the page did not navigate elsewhere. Increase the explicit timeout only if the site legitimately needs longer; a longer wait cannot fix a wrong selector or failed login.
- The screenshot file is missing or empty. Check that the destination directory exists and is writable, and use a
.pngfilename with the file-saving API. Its documented return value can flag an I/O error. - The image cuts off a long page. A normal screenshot is for the current browser view. Confirm a full-page capture method for your browser and environment rather than assuming the default API captures all scrollable content.
Protect screenshots from unintended disclosure
An authenticated screenshot may visibly contain account details or other personal information. Save it only where intended, avoid exposing it in logs or public folders, and remove it when it is no longer needed. This is a practical handling precaution, not a conclusion about a particular site’s legal requirements.

ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its one-call API can capture a URL as an image or PDF; it is an alternative for pages that can be captured by URL, but it does not replace completing an OTP challenge for a protected page. For an already-authorized URL accessible to the API, try:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the example URL with the page you are authorized to capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card required.

Does Selenium bypass an OTP challenge?
No. The workflow assumes the site’s normal OTP challenge is completed legitimately before taking the screenshot.
