To capture a mobile-sized page with Microlink, request a screenshot and choose either a named device profile or explicit viewport dimensions. For example, use screenshot=true&device=iPhone%2015%20Pro for a device preset, or set viewport.width and viewport.height yourself. Microlink returns the screenshot as an asset in its response.
Make a mobile screenshot with Microlink
The basic request needs the page URL and screenshot output enabled. Add a device preset or viewport dimensions to set the browser’s mobile-sized layout:

Use a custom width and height
When you need a specific breakpoint rather than a named profile, set the viewport directly:

The deviceScaleFactor setting lets you control output scale; higher scale can increase image pixel dimensions and file size.

Microlink documents screenshot settings as either a boolean or an object; the reference lists false as the screenshot option’s default. The screenshot reference also covers output format and options such as element capture, quality and overlay. Get a faster screenshot-only response
If you only need an image and do not need extracted page metadata, set meta=false. Microlink’s guide says skipping metadata extraction is usually the biggest speed improvement for this use case. It does not guarantee a fixed response time: the target page still has to load and render.

What mobile emulation does—and does not—mean
A device profile or custom viewport configures browser rendering; it does not require a physical phone. The result is a mobile-emulated browser screenshot, not proof that every detail will match every physical device. Differences in browser versions, operating-system behavior, fonts, network state, device pixel ratio and site-specific code can affect what appears. Inspect the returned image when visual accuracy matters, and test on the actual device for device-specific behavior.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The response has no screenshot asset: Check that
screenshot=trueis present and that the request is valid. In the standard JSON response, look fordata.screenshot.url. - The page looks like desktop: Confirm that the
deviceparameter or both custom viewport dimensions are included and correctly spelled. A viewport affects browser layout, but a site may still serve desktop-oriented content. - The capture is too short: Set
screenshot.fullPage=trueif the intended result should include content below the initial viewport. - You received JSON when you expected an image: Add
embed=screenshot.urlfor the image response. Without it, use the screenshot URL in the JSON data. - The response is slower than expected: If page metadata is unnecessary, try
meta=false. A slow or complex target page can still affect capture time. - The image differs from a real phone: Treat the capture as browser emulation and verify the result on the target device for requirements that depend on physical hardware or a particular mobile browser.
