To capture everything on a long webpage, use your browser’s full-page screenshot command rather than the ordinary screen-capture shortcut. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, and save the result. In Firefox, open Take Screenshot, choose Save full page, and save the image. If you need a document for reading, printing, or archiving, use the browser’s print dialog and select a PDF destination instead.
Choose an image or a PDF first
A full-page image preserves the page as one visual canvas, while a PDF divides content into printable pages and can reflow text. Your intended use should determine the format.

Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
Edge documents a built-in full-page capture that includes sections that would otherwise require scrolling. Microsoft calls the command Capture full page in its Screenshot Tool in Microsoft Edge documentation.

- Open the webpage you want to save and wait for its initial load to finish.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows to open Edge’s Screenshot tool.
- Choose Capture full page. Edge captures the page beyond the current viewport instead of only the visible screen.
- Review the resulting capture in Edge’s preview and save it to your chosen location.
Microsoft’s learning-center guide also describes selecting Capture full page for a whole webpage (guide). If the shortcut does not open the tool, use Edge’s current menu or command search to find Screenshot; labels can change between releases.
Capture a full webpage in Mozilla Firefox
Firefox Help lists Save full page as the full-page screenshot option (Take screenshots in Firefox).
- Open the page and invoke Firefox’s screenshot action. Depending on your Firefox interface, look for Take Screenshot in the page-actions menu or the context menu.
- Select Save full page rather than the visible-area option.
- Review the capture, then save the image.
The exact way to open the screenshot action can vary with Firefox’s current UI. Firefox’s support page is the authority for the labels and placement; if you cannot see the command, use the browser’s Help or menu search for “Take Screenshot.” Firefox also publishes technical screenshot documentation in its source docs.
Save a long webpage as a PDF
Use PDF when a tall image would be unwieldy or when you need selectable text and predictable printing.
- Open the page and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open the print dialog: in Edge, Microsoft documents Ctrl+P on Windows and Command+P on Mac (Print in Microsoft Edge).
- Choose a PDF destination such as Save to PDF or your operating system’s PDF printer.
- Check the preview. Confirm that headings, tables, images, margins, headers, and page breaks are acceptable.
- Save the file and open it once to verify that the final pages and links are present.
Print styles can intentionally hide navigation, backgrounds, advertisements, or interactive controls. That is useful for a reading copy but means the PDF is not necessarily a pixel-identical record of the live page.

Chrome and Safari: verify the current menu
The exact current desktop steps for Chrome and Safari were not confirmed by the primary documentation used for this guide. Use each browser’s present built-in screenshot or print menu, and inspect the preview or output before relying on it. If the browser offers only a viewport screenshot, print to PDF or use an automation service instead of assuming that a hidden full-page command exists.
Make sure content below the fold is actually loaded
A full-page command can only capture what the page has rendered. News feeds, image galleries, dashboards, and other dynamic pages may add content as you scroll. If your capture is missing sections:
- Wait for the page’s loading indicator and major network activity to settle.
- Scroll from top to bottom once so lazy-loaded images and sections have an opportunity to appear, then return to the top and capture again. This is practical troubleshooting, not a guarantee for every site.
- Dismiss or complete consent dialogs when they block the page. A cookie banner can cover the bottom of an otherwise complete capture.
- Repeat the capture after expanding accordions or “show more” controls if those details must be included.
- For pages that continuously update, note the capture time; a later run can legitimately contain different content.
Very tall pages can create large image files. If the browser preview becomes slow, PDF is usually easier to open and share, or capture smaller sections separately for annotation.

Only the visible screen was saved
You probably used the normal screenshot shortcut or selected a visible-area option. In Edge choose Capture full page; in Firefox choose Save full page. In a print workflow, confirm that the PDF preview contains all pages.
Images or sections are blank
The page may still be loading or may use lazy loading. Wait, scroll through the page, expand required sections, and run the full-page capture again. If the site requires a login, sign in before capturing and ensure your session has not expired.

Check that the API key and URL are URL-encoded, allow up to 90 seconds for slow pages, and inspect the HTTP status plus X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Use waits for a selector, a delay, or network idle when the page renders asynchronously. Practical checks before you share the result
- Open the saved image or PDF, not just the browser download notification.
- Check the bottom edge for missing sections and the top edge for accidental browser chrome.
- Confirm that sensitive account data, private URLs, and tokens are not visible.
- For a PDF, test text selection, page order, links, and print margins.
- For a scripted or API capture, record the target URL and capture time so a changing page can be identified later.

Will a full-page screenshot include content that is hidden in collapsed menus?
No. It captures rendered content, not controls that have never been opened. Expand menus, accordions, or “show more” sections first, then capture.
Can I capture a page that requires a login?
Yes, if you have permission and the browser session is authenticated. For an API workflow, provide authorized cookies or headers through a service that supports them, and avoid exposing credentials in shared commands or logs.
Is a PDF a legally identical copy of the webpage?
