First complete the site’s normal sign-in and email verification, then confirm the page is authenticated before saving it. For a quick capture, use your browser’s full-page screenshot or print-to-PDF feature; for repeatable developer captures, Playwright can reuse saved browser authentication state, which must be protected like a password.
Complete verification and confirm you are signed in
- Open the website and sign in with the account owner’s credentials using its normal login page.
- Open the associated mailbox through its normal sign-in flow, find the current verification email, and enter the code on the website’s verification screen. The site controls the code’s validity period and verification steps; there is no universal mailbox integration or code lifetime.
- Wait until the site has finished any redirects and shows the intended authenticated page. If the page is for an automated capture, wait for the final URL or a visible element that only appears when signed in. A successful click alone does not prove the session cookie has been set.
Do not try to bypass verification or capture someone else’s account. If the code has expired or the session has ended, complete the site’s supported verification or login flow again.

Save a screenshot or PDF in Firefox
Capture the whole page as an image
In Firefox, open the authenticated page, use Take Screenshot, then choose Save full page to capture beyond the visible viewport. Choose Save visible when you only need what is currently on screen. See Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot instructions.
Save the page as a PDF
Open Firefox’s Print preview and choose Save to PDF as the destination. Review the preview and the resulting PDF: a site’s print stylesheet can change or omit elements compared with its live appearance. See Mozilla’s instructions for printing webpages.

Use a screenshot when the visual layout and interface are important; use a PDF when you need a document-like copy. Neither format preserves a live authenticated session.
Automate repeat captures with Playwright
For a repeatable workflow, complete the supported login and email verification once, then save the browser context’s storage state. The Playwright example below assumes your project has Playwright installed and that login() completes the site’s ordinary sign-in and verification process. Do not automate mailbox access unless the site and mailbox provider support it and you are authorized to do so.

Protect the saved state
Playwright warns that “The browser state file may contain sensitive cookies and headers that could be used to impersonate you or your test account.” Keep it outside version control, restrict access, and delete or refresh it when it is no longer needed. For example, add playwright/.auth/ to .gitignore. Playwright’s storage-state capabilities include cookies and local storage, with IndexedDB and other options subject to API and version support. Session storage is not included in the usual persisted snapshot flow and may require separate handling; check the installed Playwright version and the target site’s storage model. Use Chrome Headless for a command-line capture
Chrome Headless can save a screenshot or print a page to PDF. These commands capture a public page as written; for an authenticated page, first provide a legitimate browser session through a supported setup. The flags themselves do not complete email verification.

Troubleshoot common capture failures
- The capture shows a login page: the session may not have completed, may have expired, or the page may have redirected. Sign in and verify again, then wait for the authenticated URL or a signed-in UI element before capturing.
- The page is partly blank or missing content: wait for the specific content to appear and inspect the live page before saving. A page-load event alone may not mean that delayed content has rendered.
- The PDF looks different from the browser: print styles can alter layout or hide interface elements. Check print preview and use a screenshot if exact on-screen appearance matters.
- Playwright cannot restore the login: the state may have expired, the site may depend on session storage, or its authentication may use storage not captured by the current setup. Complete login again, verify the site’s storage needs, and regenerate the state file.
- The saved state is rejected or unavailable: confirm the path is correct and the file is readable by the process, and verify that the state belongs to the expected account and browser context. Never solve this by sharing the state file.
- Chrome captures before loading finishes: set a suitable
--timeoutand independently confirm the authenticated content is present. Chrome’s timeout is a maximum wait, not proof that a particular element has loaded.
