On Windows 10 or Windows 11, open the GST Portal page you want to document, press Windows logo key + Shift + S, choose a capture mode, and save the resulting snip in Snipping Tool. This captures what is visible on your screen; it does not automatically capture an entire long webpage.
Capture a GST Portal page with Snipping Tool
- Open the page. Go to the GST Portal in your browser and arrange the page so the information you need is visible. If you need to show more than fits on screen, capture separate sections rather than implying one screen snip covers the whole page.
- Open the capture overlay. Press Windows logo key + Shift + S. The screen dims and Snipping Tool’s capture overlay appears.
- Choose a mode. Select rectangular snip to drag around a specific area, window snip to capture a window, full-screen snip to capture the screen, or freeform snip to trace an irregular area.
- Review and save. Open the resulting snip in Snipping Tool. Annotate it if needed, then use Save as or the save control to choose a file name and location. Controls can vary by Snipping Tool version.
Choose the right capture mode

| Rectangular | The area you drag over | You want a precise crop of a notice, field, or result. |
| Window | A selected window | You want to capture the browser window rather than a selected detail. |
| Full screen | The entire visible screen | You need the browser and surrounding screen content together. |
| Freeform | The area you trace | You want to exclude surrounding content with an irregular selection. |
You can also press Print Screen (PrtSc) to take a static full-screen snapshot and copy it to the clipboard. Use Snipping Tool when you need to choose a smaller area or save and annotate the image.

What if the page continues below the screen?
A normal Snipping Tool capture records the visible screen, window, or selected area; it does not scroll through a webpage to capture content below the fold. Scroll to another section and take a separate snip, or use a browser-specific full-page method only after verifying how it works in your browser. Keep separate images clearly labeled if they are parts of the same page.

Prefer a non-sensitive portal page for screenshots you plan to share. Check the image before sending or publishing it: crop or obscure taxpayer details and other confidential information. Do not disclose passwords or OTPs. A screenshot of a public portal page is different from a capture of a logged-in account, and the GST Portal’s login guidance does not prescribe a special Windows screenshot process.
