For automation, prepare the page before taking a full-page screenshot and check image loading where practical; the page’s load event alone is not enough.
Why full-page screenshots can still miss images
Capture extent and image loading are separate problems. Playwright’s fullPage option captures the full scrollable page, while browsers may defer off-screen images until they are near the viewport. A screenshot can therefore include the entire page height but show blank spaces where lazy-loaded images had not loaded.

MDN notes that the load event fires when eagerly loaded content has loaded; lazy-loaded images may still be pending. Treat that event as an initial milestone, not proof that every image is ready. MDN’s lazy-loading guide explains the distinction.
Manual method: scroll before capturing
- Open the page and let its initial content render.
- Scroll down through the page in stages. Pause where images or other content are still appearing so viewport-triggered loading has a chance to run.
- Continue until you reach the intended end of the page. If the site appends content as you scroll, decide what counts as complete and check that you have reached it.
- If your capture tool expects it, return to the top, then take its full-page screenshot.
- Inspect the screenshot, paying particular attention to sections that began below the fold. If an image is missing, bring that section into view, wait for it, and capture again.
There is no universal wait time that guarantees every site has finished loading. Page scripts, embeds, and dynamically added content can behave differently, so use what you see on the page rather than relying on a fixed delay.

Playwright: prepare the page, then capture
Playwright’s documented full-page option is fullPage: true. Scroll through the page before using it when the site defers images until they approach the viewport. The capture call is:

Adjust the preparation to the target site, and verify the result. For a more targeted check, inspect image loading state where relevant; an image’s complete property is one signal, but it does not prove that the image looks correct or that every dynamically inserted image has been discovered.

Infinite scroll and other edge cases
- Infinite scrolling: scrolling may append more content and increase page height. Decide whether you need the content currently available or the entire feed, then verify the expected end before capturing. There is no single completion test that applies to every infinite-scroll implementation.
- Images still missing after scrolling: an image may be delayed, have failed, or depend on site-specific script behavior. Check the page and the image’s loading state rather than assuming a longer arbitrary wait will fix it.
- Very tall pages: full-page capture can produce a large image. Choose screenshot scale or clipping based on whether you need every pixel in one file or a more readable, manageable result.
- Other dynamic content: embeds and scripts may not follow the same loading behavior as ordinary images. Inspect the captured result for the content that matters to your task.

No. It is a loading-state signal, not a visual check; inspect the screenshot to confirm the image appears as intended.
