On iPhone or iPad, Safari’s Full Page saves a PDF; on Android 12 and later, use Capture more where available, or Chrome’s Long screenshot. First decide what “full tweet” means
A screenshot can show one post card, the entire text and media of a single post, or a whole thread. Those are different capture jobs. A full-page screenshot may include navigation and replies around the post; a tweet-specific capture tool may produce a cleaner card but may not include every reply or piece of media.
- One post card: Capture the author, post text, timestamp, and visible engagement details in a compact image.
- One complete post: Include the full text, any attached media, and quoted post you need.
- A thread: Include multiple posts in their original order. Very long threads may be easier to preserve as a sequence of labeled images than as one extremely tall image.
For reporting, documentation, or evidence, keep the post’s X permalink alongside the screenshot. An image is a static copy and can leave out context or later changes.
Prepare the post before capturing it
- Open the post’s permalink or post-details page, not a fast-moving timeline. X supports a post-details view, and its browser guidance lists current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. X’s supported-browser guidance can help if the page itself is not working.
- Expand any truncated text using “Show more” or its equivalent.
- Open images, videos, or quoted posts that must be visible, and wait for them to load. Some media loads only when it is brought into view.
- For a thread, decide whether you need the original post and replies, and check the order before saving. A single continuous capture can become difficult to read when it is very tall.
- Check the screen for notifications or private information you do not intend to share.
Capture a full tweet on iPhone or iPad
Use Safari for Apple’s native full-page capture. The result is normally a PDF saved to Files or shared from the screenshot preview, rather than a PNG or JPG.

- Open the tweet in Safari, preferably on its post-details page.
- Take a screenshot: quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone or iPad model with a Home button, press the side button and Home button together.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears, then tap Full Page.
- Inspect the page preview and adjust the crop if needed.
- Save the result to Files as a PDF or share it. Apple describes the control as: “Capture content beyond your iPhone screen: Tap Full Page.” See Apple’s screenshot guide.
If Full Page does not appear in the X app, open the same post in Safari. Full Page is designed for webpages in Safari. If the destination specifically requires a PNG or JPG, convert or rasterize the PDF after capture; check the converted image for legibility and missing content.
Capture a full tweet on Android
On many Android phones and tablets, the system screenshot preview offers a scrolling capture called Capture more. Google documents these steps for devices running Android 12 and up, on most screens that allow scrolling. The label and availability can vary by manufacturer and app.

- Open the tweet or thread and wait for the content you need to load.
- Press Power + Volume down to take a screenshot.
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the preview if the control appears.
- Drag the crop guides to include the complete post or thread.
- Save or share the capture, then check that the beginning and end are present.

- Open the tweet in Chrome.
- Tap More next to the address bar, then Share.
- Tap Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to include the complete post or thread.
- Confirm, then save or share the image.

Capture a tweet on a desktop browser
A desktop browser’s ordinary screenshot often captures only the visible viewport. For a clean, shareable image of a post or thread, use a tweet screenshot extension or tool after opening the post-details page. The specific tool determines its output and limits.

- Open the tweet’s permalink in a current browser.
- Expand “Show more” text and open the media or quoted post that should appear.
- Run the capture tool and choose single-post or thread mode if offered.
- Inspect the image’s top and bottom, author, timestamp, media, and engagement row before sharing.
- Blur handles or avatars if privacy requires it, and save the permalink separately.

Why a screenshot may cut off a tweet
- Full Page or Capture more is missing: On iPhone or iPad, open the post in Safari and use Full Page. On Android, the system scrolling screenshot is documented for Android 12 and later on most scrollable screens; try Chrome’s Long screenshot if the system option is unavailable.
- Text is cut off: Use the post-details page, expand the truncated text, zoom to a readable level, and capture again.
- Images or quoted posts are blank: Wait for lazy-loaded media and open the quoted post if it must be included, then recapture.
- The thread order is confusing: Start at the original post and capture downward. If one image becomes too tall to read, use several images and label their order.
- The capture includes unrelated content: A full-page browser capture may include navigation or replies beyond the post. Use a post-focused tool if you need a cleaner card, or crop the final image carefully.
- Private information appears in the image: Crop or blur handles, avatars, direct-message names, and notification banners before sharing.
