To capture a full webpage rather than just its first viewport, request a screenshot and set screenshot.fullPage=true. In the Microlink JavaScript SDK, use fullPage: true. The API returns screenshot metadata, including an asset URL you can use downstream.
Make a full-page screenshot with Microlink’s API
Microlink’s API accepts a GET request at https://api.microlink.io. Pass the page address as url, enable screenshots with screenshot=true, and set screenshot.fullPage=true to capture the full scrollable page. The full-page option defaults to false.

Read the response and use the screenshot
With screenshot generation enabled, the JSON response includes a data.screenshot object. Microlink’s documented example includes the screenshot asset URL, width, height, file type, byte size, a human-readable size, and request status. Use the returned asset URL in your application rather than assuming a fixed URL or image dimension.

Prepare dynamic and lazy-loaded pages
A full-page option controls the extent of capture; it does not guarantee that every element has finished loading. JavaScript-rendered content, delayed sections, and lazy images may need an explicit readiness step. Microlink’s dynamic-content guide demonstrates scrolling a target section into view and waiting for a selector that appears when its content is ready.
- Identify the content trigger. Determine whether the missing section appears after scrolling, after a particular element loads, or after another page action.
- Trigger it before capture. For scroll-dependent content, use Microlink’s documented
scrolloption to bring the relevant section into view. - Wait for a meaningful signal. Wait for a selector associated with the loaded content, where possible, then request the full-page screenshot. A selector wait is more targeted than choosing an arbitrary delay when a reliable selector exists.
The dynamic-content guide shows this pattern with a reviews section and review-card selector. Adapt the selector and scroll target to the page you are capturing; the example’s specific page details are not universal.
Choose the scope and image settings
Capture the whole page or just one component
Use full-page capture when the required output is the entire scrollable document. If only one visible component matters, Microlink’s screenshot options also support targeting an element with a CSS selector. Element targeting can avoid producing a tall image when the rest of the page is irrelevant. The available screenshot options are documented on the screenshot parameter page.

Trade image size against detail
For smaller output, Microlink’s performance guide recommends considering JPEG with an appropriate quality setting, reducing device scale factor, and omitting metadata when it is not needed. These choices affect output characteristics: JPEG quality and scale can reduce image detail, so check that the resulting screenshot still meets your use case.
Keep JavaScript enabled unless the page permits otherwise
The performance guide suggests disabling JavaScript only for pages that are already complete without scripts. That can be unsuitable for pages whose content is rendered dynamically or whose images load on interaction. For such pages, use an explicit readiness strategy instead of disabling the code that supplies the content.
Access, quota, and service claims
Microlink’s product overview says its standard API endpoint can be used without an API key to get started and advertises 25 requests per day on the free plan. It also says a Pro key unlocks options including higher quota, proxy, custom headers, and configurable cache TTL. These are Microlink’s published service details and may change; check the current API overview before relying on a quota or plan feature.

The same overview publishes a screenshot P95 of 2.8 seconds and a 99.9% SLA on paid plans. Those are vendor-reported figures, not independent performance measurements; they should not be treated as a guarantee that every individual capture will finish within a particular time.

- The output shows only the first viewport. Confirm that screenshot generation is enabled and that the full-page setting is present:
screenshot=trueandscreenshot.fullPage=truein the API request, orfullPage: truein the SDK call. - A section or image is missing. The page may load it only after JavaScript runs, scrolling, or a delay. Trigger the relevant scroll and wait for a selector that indicates the content is ready before capture.
- The response is JSON when you expected an image. The documented default response includes screenshot metadata and an asset URL. If you want the endpoint to return the asset directly, consult the API overview’s
embed=screenshot.urloption. - The image is larger than needed. If the entire page is not required, target a specific element. Otherwise consider JPEG, quality settings, a lower device scale factor, or omitting metadata, while checking that visual fidelity remains acceptable.
- The free allowance or an option is unavailable. Quotas and plan features can change. Verify the live API overview and the relevant parameter documentation rather than relying on an older account or setup description.
