Html2Pdf.app can render a webpage as a PDF, but its documented API does not provide a direct full-page PNG or JPEG screenshot. To use it for this job, generate a PDF first, then convert that file to an image with a separate PDF-to-image tool. If you need a screenshot image directly, use a screenshot API instead.
What Html2Pdf.app captures
Html2Pdf.app accepts a publicly reachable webpage URL or raw HTML and renders it to PDF using headless Chromium. Its documentation describes PDF output, not a dedicated full-page PNG or JPEG endpoint. That distinction matters: a PDF can preserve a long page in a document format, but it is not automatically a single tall image. The documentation does not guarantee that an arbitrary long webpage will fit on one PDF page. For a raster deliverable, use a separate PDF-to-image conversion step and check that the resulting resolution keeps the whole page legible.

One-off capture: online converter
- Open the online converter from the Html2Pdf.app homepage.
- Enter the webpage’s public URL and run the conversion.
- Download the resulting PDF, then convert it separately if you need PNG or JPEG.
This route avoids writing an integration, but it is a manual process rather than an automated capture pipeline.

Automated capture: server-side API request
Send an authenticated POST request to https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate. Set html to either the public page URL or raw HTML, and send the API key in the X-API-Key header. Keep the key in a backend, trusted server-side script, or job runner; do not expose it in browser JavaScript or public code.

Canvas dimensions and paper formats
The API documents custom width and height values in pixels; provide them together when using a custom canvas. It also documents page formats A0 through A6, plus Letter, Legal, Tabloid, and Ledger. These options affect the PDF layout, but do not establish that the entire page will become one page. Inspect the PDF before converting it to an image, especially for long pages or content with fixed-position elements.

Wait for scripts and resources
Use waitFor when a page needs additional time for JavaScript or asynchronous resources. The documented range is 0–10 seconds. A delay can help with late-loading content, but cannot guarantee that a site will finish loading within that window.
Html2Pdf.app notes that CSS media mode, font and resource availability, and JavaScript timing can affect the rendered result. Test representative pages from your actual workflow instead of assuming one setting works for every site.

Asynchronous callback jobs
The API documentation also describes an asynchronous callback mode. For callback jobs, Html2Pdf.app posts a base64-encoded PDF to your endpoint. Use an HTTPS callback URL and make processing idempotent so retries or duplicate delivery do not create duplicate downstream work. This is useful for longer-running automation; the synchronous route is simpler when a caller can wait for the response.

Convert the PDF to a full-page image
When the required output is PNG or JPEG, treat image conversion as a separate stage after Html2Pdf.app finishes. The service’s documented output is PDF; converting it to a raster image is not an Html2Pdf.app feature described in its documentation.

- Choose sufficient resolution for the intended use. A very long page rendered as one image may be difficult to read or unwieldy to share.
- Check that all content is present and legible. If the PDF spans multiple pages, decide whether to keep separate images or assemble them with a separate image tool.
Fix common capture problems
- The output is a PDF, not PNG or JPEG: That is the documented API output. Add a separate PDF-to-image conversion step, or use a screenshot API when you need raster output directly.
- The PDF is split across pages: The documentation does not promise single-page output for every long webpage. Adjust the documented page format or paired custom dimensions, then inspect the PDF and convert its pages according to your needs.
- Images, fonts, or styles are missing: Confirm the source page is publicly reachable by the rendering service and that its CSS, fonts, and image URLs are also accessible. Private or blocked resources may not load for the renderer.
- JavaScript content is absent or incomplete: Increase
waitForwithin its documented 0–10-second range and test again. Timing-sensitive pages may still vary based on how their scripts and resources load. - The saved file is corrupt or contains an error message: Check the HTTP status before writing the body as a PDF. Save the successful response as binary data, not text, and review the API’s response/error guidance.
- The API key is rejected or exposed: Verify the
X-API-Keyheader and keep credentials server-side. Do not put the key in frontend code, where visitors can inspect it.
