Screenshot.Rocks’ online website capture makes an image of a page’s first screen, not its full scrollable length. To capture the whole page, use your browser’s built-in screenshot feature, then import the result into Screenshot.Rocks’ editor if you want to crop it or add a frame or background.
What Screenshot.Rocks captures—and what it doesn’t
The online website capture is designed for a screenshot of the page’s initial screen. It offers desktop and mobile layouts and lets you export a framed mockup with a background; it is not the route for a full-page capture.

Screenshot.Rocks states that its desktop capture is 1440 × 800 at 2× density (2880 × 1600 pixels), and its mobile capture is 375 × 812 at 3× density (1125 × 2436 pixels). Those are the tool’s stated dimensions, not standard sizes for browser screenshots.

When the online capture is not suitable
Screenshot.Rocks says its online capture cannot see content behind a login, reach localhost, or capture sites that block automated browsers. For a logged-in page, local or staging site, or particular page state, capture it in the browser where you can access that content, then import the screenshot into the editor if needed. Screenshot.Rocks says the online capture is sent back to the browser and is not stored on its server.
Capture the full page in a desktop browser
Chrome
- Open the page you want to capture. Open DevTools with F12, or on Mac press Command+Option+I.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac. Chrome’s documentation identifies these as the Command Menu shortcuts.
- Type
screenshotand select Capture full size screenshot. The guide says Chrome saves the PNG in Downloads.
Firefox
- Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Take Screenshot, or press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on Mac.
- Select Save full page.
- Download the image or copy it. Mozilla’s help page documents the screenshot interface, full-page option, and download and copy choices.
Microsoft Edge
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows, or Command+Shift+S on Mac. Alternatively, open the three-dot menu and select Screenshot.
- Choose Capture full page, then save or copy the result.
Safari on Mac
- In Safari Settings → Advanced, enable Show features for web developers. Earlier Safari versions may label this Show Develop menu in menu bar.
- Open Web Inspector with Command+Option+I.
- In Elements, right-click the top-level
<html>entry and choose Capture Screenshot.
Browser interfaces can change. The Screenshot.Rocks guide is attributed to Dave Earley and marked updated 24 September 2026; Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot help page was reported updated four days before access on 3 October 2026, and Chrome for Developers’ Command Menu documentation lists 4 September 2024 as its last update. If a label differs in your browser, check that browser’s current help documentation.

Capture a long page on a phone or tablet
iPhone and iPad
Take a screenshot in Safari, open its preview, and choose Full Page. Save the result to Files. This full-page mobile workflow produces a PDF, not an image. If you specifically need an image file, use a desktop browser’s device mode to capture the page instead.

Fix common full-page screenshot problems
- Some images are missing: The page may load images only as they enter the viewport. Scroll slowly to the bottom and back to the top before capturing, then try again.
- A cookie banner or sticky header covers content: Dismiss the banner before capturing. If an element still obstructs the page, the Screenshot.Rocks guide describes selecting it in DevTools’ Elements panel and deleting it. That change lasts only until the page reloads.
- Text looks blurry: Sharpness depends on display resolution. The guide recommends using Chrome DevTools device mode and setting the device pixel ratio to 2 for a sharper capture.
- The image is cut off or capture fails: Browsers limit the height of a single image. Capture the page in sections or capture only the portion you need.
- The full-page image is unreadable when framed: A webpage can be many times taller than it is wide. Crop to the relevant section, or present the complete image on a tall canvas such as 9:16.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot API rather than a browser-generated capture, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF from one GET request. This cURL example requests a WebP image:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your API key and change the target URL as needed. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
When the Screenshot.Rocks editor helps
Use the editor after a browser capture when you want to crop to a useful section or present the image with a frame or background. It is a finishing step, not the tool that creates the browser-native full-page screenshot. For a simple first-screen mockup of a public page, Screenshot.Rocks’ online capture may be more convenient; for the entire page or a page state available only in your own browser, capture it there first.
