| Option | Best suited to | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Scout Rifle TD | Players who want to snipe early with a starter rifle | Break-action cycling means slower follow-up shots. |
| SKS | Lower-progression players who want a more flexible rifle | Less specialized for patient, dedicated long-range play than a bolt-action build. |
| SV98 | Players ready for a dedicated bolt-action and deliberate shots | High recoil and slower cycling make close-range encounters and ammunition planning more demanding. |
Starter build: Scout Rifle TD
The Scout Rifle TD is the straightforward choice if your priority is to use a sniper as soon as possible. AllThingsHow’s example pairs it with an optic and suppressor, a GGX17 sidearm, a Monocular, basic armor, vest and backpack, plus spare ammunition and medical supplies. That guide reports an approximate total of $4,845 per life and a weight of 10.6 kg for its complete example; those are guide-reported values, not verified current vendor prices.
Because the rifle is break-action, make each shot count and plan for the time needed before you can fire again. A sidearm matters when an opponent closes the distance or you cannot safely complete another rifle cycle.

- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- WORKS WITH WINDOWS SONIC — Make the most of the headset’s powerful drivers by pairing it with lifelike surround sound that places audio with pinpoint accuracy, heightening in-game awareness and immersion
Flexible lower-progression build: SKS
The SKS suits players who want quicker consecutive shots and a rifle that can adapt to closer engagements. AllThingsHow describes it as a semiautomatic with a 10-round magazine and recommends a DTK-1 brake muzzle, bipod and 6x Precision Rifle Scope. Its example also includes a GGX 17, Small Hammer, protective gear and 7.62 standard ammunition.
The guide suggests removing the scope when using the rifle at closer ranges. Treat that as build advice rather than a universal attachment rule: confirm the available parts and handling in your current version, and choose a setup that does not leave you without a plan when the fight moves in.

Where does the Mosin Nagant fit?
Available guides do not agree on the Mosin Nagant’s exact progression relationship to the SV98. AllThingsHow lists it among the sniper rifles and reports a Recon Level 10 unlock; Loadout Command presents the Mosin and SV98 at the same reported level while describing different roles. Verify the unlock in your own client rather than relying on a universal sequence.

Recon contributes more than ranged kills. The Kennel’s role guide emphasizes watching useful approaches, marking vehicles and threats, and communicating what you see. A useful callout gives your squad the threat type, direction and distance, so teammates can act on the information.

- Choose a position with sightlines over an approach that matters to the fight, rather than sitting so far away that your observations cannot help.
- Keep an escape route in mind before taking a shot, and relocate after enemies spot or identify your position.
- Carry a sidearm to cover the gap when a target closes or your rifle cannot fire again quickly.
- Use range estimation or the in-game Range Finder when available; AllThingsHow also recommends paying attention to zeroing for distant shots.
These are community-guide tactics, not independently tested performance guarantees. Remaining in a known position for one more shot can expose you and reduce your ability to keep contributing.

Weapon prices, unlock gates, attachments, ammunition, armor and slot behavior can change between builds. Loadout Command says its progression information draws on early-access and beta gameplay and advises checking patch notes. The WARDOGS Wiki Editorial Team likewise notes that game values can vary by build and does not provide a first-party live damage or tier table. For that reason, treat specific costs, levels and attachment recommendations above as guide-reported rather than authoritative current stats.
