Then make it easy to set a reminder and repeat the event details in a few useful, well-timed posts. YouTube recommends these steps, but does not publish evidence that any one tactic guarantees more viewers.
Give people a specific reason to show up live
Start with one accurate sentence that answers: “Why should someone be there live instead of watching later?” Make the live-only value concrete: a Q&A, audience participation, a reveal, a demonstration, or a timely discussion are possible formats—not proven attendance boosters.

Carry the same promise through the title, thumbnail, and description. Tell viewers what they will see or do, when it happens, and how to join. Avoid promising an interaction or reveal that the stream may not deliver.

- Schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Set the title, description, thumbnail, and start time, then save the scheduled stream.
- Copy the scheduled stream’s watch-page URL. Use this as the single destination in your announcements so viewers land on the event page rather than searching for it later.
- Share the link at least 48 hours before going live. YouTube recommends this lead time. A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can select Notify me. YouTube also says subscribers may see public events in their homepage feed and find a live stream in “What to Watch Next”; neither visibility nor notification delivery is guaranteed. YouTube’s live-stream promotion guidance and live-stream settings guidance describe these options.
- Check the upcoming-event display. YouTube says scheduled streams starting within the next 24 hours can be surfaced for notification opt-in while viewers watch Shorts. Treat this as an additional discovery opportunity, not a replacement for sharing your link.
Add a trailer if the channel is eligible
A trailer can play on the scheduled stream’s watch page before the event. YouTube Help’s current guidance specifies a duration of 15 seconds to 3 minutes and eligibility of more than 1,000 subscribers with no Community Guidelines strikes. Check the current options in Studio before planning around the feature; availability and interface details can change. YouTube explains trailer setup and requirements.

Keep the trailer focused on the event’s promise and practical details. YouTube recommends a supported video type and, where possible, matching the stream’s aspect ratio and resolution. Make sure the trailer follows copyright rules and Community Guidelines. If the option is unavailable to your channel, a short teaser video or post can still point to the scheduled watch page.
Promote the same event link with a sustainable cadence
YouTube suggests sharing the stream on social media, embedding its URL on a website, and featuring upcoming events in a channel’s Live section. Choose only the places your intended audience already uses. You do not need to post everywhere, and YouTube does not prescribe an optimal posting interval.

As a practical workflow—not an official rule or a proven attendance formula—announce the event when you schedule it, share a brief preview several days ahead, post a reminder near the event, and make one final reminder on the day. Each message should say what is happening, when it starts, and link to the watch page. Avoid repeatedly sending announcements to channels where people have not opted in.
Make the call to action easy to understand: visit the event page and select Notify me if that option is shown. A reminder gives interested viewers a way to keep track of the event; it does not guarantee that they will attend.

Build a repeatable schedule for regular streams
If you stream on a recurring basis, choose a schedule you can sustain and tell viewers what to expect. YouTube recommends communicating the schedule, sharing changes, and considering the channel banner as a place to display it. A reliable routine can help viewers know when to look for future streams, although YouTube does not quantify its effect. See YouTube’s live-stream scheduling tips.
Use Premieres and Live Redirect only when they fit
A Premiere is a scheduled video release, not a scheduled livestream
A Premiere has a shareable pre-release page and its own reminder option. YouTube suggests promoting it through posts, social media, and pinned comments. Viewers who set a Premiere reminder receive a notification about 30 minutes before it starts and another when it begins; that timing applies to Premieres, not scheduled-live reminders. Live Redirect is a post-stream handoff
Live Redirect sends viewers after your stream ends to a Premiere or another live stream. It is not a way to remind people before your event. YouTube’s guidance states that the sending creator needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; redirecting to another channel’s live stream also requires that channel to allow redirects.
