Ask separate, typed questions about completion, policy compliance, and execution quality. Your application—not Jev—must run the agent and capture the evidence; a confident final message alone does not prove the task was completed.
What an agent evaluation needs to establish
A useful evaluation compares three things: what the agent was asked to do, what it actually did, and what it says it accomplished. If the record contains only the final answer, an evaluator cannot reliably check whether the agent used tools correctly, encountered errors, or completed the requested work.

- Task: the instruction given to the agent, including relevant constraints.
- Trace: the agent’s tool actions and the results returned by those tools. Preserve enough detail to check consequential steps.
- Claimed outcome: the agent’s final report of what it did or did not accomplish.
Keep the evidence in a structured state your application can send for evaluation. Jev judges the state supplied to it; the application harness remains responsible for executing the agent and recording the run. See Jev’s agent-evaluation guide.

- Instrument the run. In your agent harness, log the assigned task, tool calls, tool results, and final claim. Include errors and relevant intermediate results rather than storing only a success summary.
- Define separate criteria. Write clear questions with explicit meanings for each answer. A practical starting set is whether the trace supports completion, whether the agent stayed within allowed actions, and how well it executed the task against a stated rubric.
- Send the state and questions to Jev. Jev evaluates one text or JSON state against typed questions and returns structured answers for application logic. The API documentation says a request can include up to eight questions; follow its current request and authentication requirements.
- Use results across runs. Apply the same criteria to comparable runs so changes can be tracked. Review uncertain or consequential results rather than treating a model judgment as ground truth.
- Keep pre-action checks separate. A guardrail can assess an action before it is executed; an evaluation assesses evidence after a run. They address different points in the workflow.
Score completion, compliance, and quality separately
These criteria answer different questions. Combining them into one overall verdict can hide important failure modes—for example, a task may be completed through a disallowed action, or an allowed run may produce poor work.
#1 Best Overall
| Criterion | What it asks | Jev answer type in the example | What to define |
|---|---|---|---|
| Completion | Does the recorded evidence support the agent’s claim that it completed the task? | Choice | What counts as complete, incomplete, or otherwise relevant to your workflow. |
| Policy compliance | Did the agent remain within the actions it was allowed to take? | Yes/no probability | The permitted and prohibited actions, and how the probability should be interpreted or thresholded. |
| Execution quality | How well did the agent carry out the task? | Score | A task-specific rubric and what different score levels mean. |
This is the pattern in Jev’s agent-evaluation example, not a universal rubric. Adapt the labels and scoring criteria to the task, and make them precise enough that repeated evaluations are meaningfully comparable. Jev returns typed results rather than a generated explanation: its API documentation says, “It does not generate text.” See the Jev API documentation.
What Jev evaluates—and what your harness must do
Jev evaluates the text or JSON state the caller provides. It does not replay tool calls or independently inspect an agent’s environment. Your harness must execute the agent, capture the calls and returned results, and include that record in the state sent to Jev. Missing or misleading trace data limits what any judgment can establish.

The documented API endpoint is POST /v1/systemone at https://jevmodel.org; requests require a Jev API key. Jev also documents an MCP endpoint at https://jevmodel.org/mcp, with decision, choice, score, and yes/no-probability tools for agent integrations. Keep API keys on a server, and consult the current documentation for authentication, errors, and retry behavior.

How to interpret Jev’s benchmark evidence
A September 29, 2026 arXiv preprint by Tobias Deußer, Lorenz Sparrenberg, and Rafet Sifa evaluates Jev zero-shot across 37 datasets and 346,009 requests. The authors report 95–99% accuracy on IMDB, SST-2, HellaSwag, and ARC, and 86.7% on Belebele across 122 languages. These are results on the study’s benchmarks, not a performance guarantee for a custom agent trace, completion criterion, or quality rubric. Read the authors’ benchmark study for its scope and methods.
The same preprint reports weaker results on low-resource languages, fine-grained or noisy labels, and rubric-based quality judgments. It also finds that binary probabilities may rank examples well but be poorly calibrated to a fixed 0.5 cutoff: on UNFAIR-ToS, tuning thresholds on training data raised micro-F1 from 0.50 to 0.75. That result is specific to the study’s dataset and tuning procedure; it is not a recommended universal threshold.

Before relying on an automated judgment for operational decisions, compare its results with human-reviewed examples representative of your tasks and traces. Include both clear successes and failures, as well as borderline cases. Check whether completion and compliance decisions match your definitions, whether rubric scores are useful, and what happens when logs are incomplete or ambiguous. Choose review rules and any decision thresholds using your own validation data; send uncertain or high-impact cases for human review.
When comparing Jev with another evaluation approach, examine the shape of its output, the evidence it can assess, how criteria and labels are defined, consistency across model versions, confidence handling and human-review policy, and latency and operational limits. The available documentation and benchmark study do not establish a neutral head-to-head comparison for this agent-evaluation workflow.
