Build around the strongest heroes you have, not a lineup you are still waiting to summon. A useful beginner team balances damage, durability, and control or healing, then adjusts for the stage, elements, and battlefield placement. Pocket Gamer’s tier list updated September 3, 2026 for version 1.0.53 rates Wukong, Horus, Raphael, Hippolyta, Valkyrie, and Aphrodite in S+, but those are editorial rankings—not official ratings or a guaranteed best team for every mode.
Start with the heroes you actually own
Summoners Kingdom: Goddess lists over 100 unique heroes, so a new player may not have the same options as someone else. The official Google Play listing also emphasizes elemental combat and strategic battlefield placement. Build for useful jobs and the encounter rather than choosing heroes by tier rank alone.

- Damage: Include a hero who can reliably pressure enemies.
- Durability: Add someone able to take pressure and help keep the team in the fight.
- Control or support: Look for effects that disrupt opponents, heal allies, or otherwise help the team survive and act.
These are roles to cover, not a verified fixed five-hero starter composition. Compare the heroes available to you by their battle job, fit for the current stage, upgrade investment, and any relevant elemental or placement considerations.

Pocket Gamer’s tier list, updated September 3, 2026 for version 1.0.53, places the following heroes in S+. It is a third-party assessment, not a developer ranking, and the list does not establish one best combination for every beginner or game mode.

Pocket Gamer’s 2024 beginner guide recommends focusing upgrades on Wukong, Horus, Raphael, Aphrodite, and Valkyrie when you obtain them; if they are unavailable, it suggests choosing from the S tier in its list. Treat that as the guide author’s advice, not a rule of the game. The same guide cautions against spreading upgrades across every hero and against spending universal shards on heroes you do not plan to use.
Build steadily instead of rerolling by default
A top-ranked summon can help, but waiting for one is not a prerequisite to making progress. Pocket Gamer’s tier-list author says that most heroes can work through earlier stages when levelled and geared. The author also advises against rerolling as the default because it can be lengthy and is not necessary to eventually obtain S+ heroes. For a beginner, a useful next step is usually to develop a workable roster and keep advancing rather than restarting repeatedly for a particular name.

Use progression to strengthen your roster
Pocket Gamer’s beginner guide recommends using repeatable activities and Adventure progression to build resources and earn summoning keys. Its Chapter 12 recommendation is from a guide published October 22, 2024, so treat the target as dated advice rather than a current requirement.

- Choose events by their rewards rather than assuming every event is equally useful for your roster.
- Advance through Adventure stages to collect resources and summoning keys; the 2024 guide recommends reaching at least Chapter 12, then progressing in line with team development.
- If a stage stalls your progress, move on where possible instead of remaining stuck on the same stage for too long.
Spend scarce resources deliberately
The 2024 beginner guide identifies Diamonds as premium currency and recommends saving them for exclusive summons after establishing a reasonable early lineup. It also advises keeping Gold for later hero and gear costs. These are resource-management recommendations from that guide, not a promise about current summon value, offers, or prices. The durable principle is to avoid impulsive spending of scarce resources before you know which heroes you intend to develop.

Check the date behind any tier list
The newest version-specific ranking identified here is Pocket Gamer’s list for version 1.0.53, updated September 3, 2026. It is an editorial snapshot; the available information does not establish whether that remained the live game version after the update or whether subsequent balance changes affected the rankings.
