Build an independent GTA 6 API around a small set of facts Rockstar has published—not an invented, supposedly complete game-world database. As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI as coming November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its public materials name Jason, Lucia, Leonida, and Vice City. Store those facts with their sources, publication dates, and the time your service checked them so API clients can see what is announced and how fresh the record is.
What the API can accurately report
Rockstar’s official GTA VI site and August 27, 2026 Newswire announcement list a November 19, 2026 release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. Because that date is still in the future as of October 7, 2026, represent it as an announced date, not proof the game has launched.

Rockstar’s published material also identifies Jason and Lucia and names Leonida and Vice City. These make a defensible starter set of entities, but do not establish a complete character, location, or relationship catalog. Add only relationships supported by an official source; leave unsupported connections out rather than filling gaps with inference.

Separate the game, entities, and status
Keep the game record distinct from entity records and status announcements. This avoids treating an announcement as a permanent property of the game and lets a later date change be recorded without erasing what was previously announced.
- Game: stable local ID, title, and current status.
- Status announcement: status such as
announced, announced release date, platforms, source, and the time your collector observed the source. - Entity: stable local ID, name, type, source, and provenance note.
- Relationship: links between entity records only when an attached source supports the connection.
- Edition: a separate product record, not a platform or release-status value.
Use your own documented identifiers. Do not present locally assigned IDs as Rockstar IDs, and do not imply that a short list is exhaustive.

The timestamp is in UTC and the release date is a calendar date, not a UTC instant. Keep those meanings explicit in your schema. Populate source_date only when the source provides a date; a missing date is not the same as the collector’s observation time.

Represent entities with provenance
For each entity, retain its name, type, source URL, source publisher, source date when available, collector observation time, and a concise provenance note. For example, Jason and Lucia can be character records, while Leonida and Vice City can be place records. The Rockstar Games Store listing describes Jason and Lucia’s story as taking place across Leonida; the official site supplies the named entities and promotes Vice City.
Do not convert that evidence into unsupported claims about a character’s home, a location’s exact boundaries, or the complete relationship between places. Keep a relationship record only if the source actually establishes it, and attach that source directly to the relationship.

Keep announcements, observations, and editions distinct
A useful API lets clients distinguish what Rockstar announced from what your service last observed. Preserve prior announcements when a value changes, mark the current one separately, and expose a top-level freshness time. If you later include community-submitted claims, label them as community data with their own provenance instead of blending them into official-source records.

Checklist before publishing an endpoint
- Verify the source: use the relevant official Rockstar page for each fact and preserve its exact URL.
- Record two times: store the source publication or update date when provided, plus your own UTC
observed_attime. - Use precise status fields: keep
announceddistinct fromreleased; do not mark the game released merely because a date exists. - Preserve history: when a future announcement changes, retain the earlier record and identify which announcement is current.
- Expose provenance: return source publisher, URL, date if known, and a confidence or provenance note alongside facts.
- State the service’s independence: make clear that the API is an independent compilation unless Rockstar publishes developer access terms.
