To block a specific show on Netflix, open the parental controls for the profile you want to restrict, add the title under Title Restrictions, and save. The setting affects that profile—not every profile on the account.
Block a show in a web browser
- Open Netflix in a browser and go to the Account page.
- Under Profiles, choose the profile you want to change, then select Adjust parental controls.
- Select the profile and verify your identity if prompted. Netflix may ask for your account password or send a code to your email address or mobile number.
- Under Title Restrictions, type the show’s name and select it from the results.
- Save the change. Netflix says titles in the profile’s blocked-title list are removed from that profile.
Block a title in the Netflix app
For profiles supported by the app flow, use My Netflix → profile name → Manage Profiles → profile → Viewing Restrictions → Block Titles. If you are blocking a title on a Kids profile, use a web browser instead; Netflix’s app instructions do not apply to that case.

Choose the right restriction
| Control | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Title Restrictions | Blocks a named show or movie on the profile you edit. | Use it when you want to exclude a specific title. |

Unblock a show or movie
Return to the same title-restriction area, find the title, and select the X beside its name. In the mobile app, Netflix documents selecting Edit first, then tapping the X.

If the restriction does not appear
- Refresh the profile on the device: switch to another profile and back, or sign out of Netflix and sign in again.
- Look up a title that is not visible in the list: Netflix displays only the first 100 blocked titles, but says you can block additional titles. Search for the title in the restriction setting to remove it if it is not displayed.
- Check why the show is missing: a title may not be available in your country because it has not been released or licensed there, a VPN may affect what appears, the profile’s maturity limit may exclude it, it may be blocked on that profile, or it may not be available in the profile language. Netflix lists these as possible reasons in its troubleshooting guidance for missing titles.
- Consider season ratings: ratings vary by region, and Netflix says the rating shown when a series season starts may differ from the show’s overall rating or content themes.
