Back up WWE 2K26 before deleting files, reinstalling the game, rebuilding a console database, or using Safe Mode. Use the cloud service belonging to the platform account that owns the game, then make a second local copy on PC if possible. A 2K login by itself is not a save backup: 2K Support says saves are tied to the platform account, not a 2K account.
Cloud saves protect the platform save. Uploaded images and Community Creations use separate online systems, so retrieve those separately rather than assuming a save restore will bring back every downloaded or created item.

What a WWE 2K26 backup protects
WWE 2K26 is listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam. Your first task is to identify which platform account actually owns and runs the game. The cloud procedure, subscription requirement, and recovery destination depend on that account.
The platform save is the data you must protect before repair work. It is the copy used when the game loads your existing progress and settings. A cloud upload gives you a recovery copy managed by the platform. On PC, a second manual copy of the local Steam data provides another fallback, but its exact folder identification is based on a community report rather than official 2K documentation.

Custom content needs a separate plan. Community Creations and Image Manager can make shared creations or uploaded images available again, but the cited support instructions do not describe them as a complete backup of your save, Universe setup, or every downloaded item. Treat them as recovery channels for online content, not as substitutes for a platform-save backup.
WWE 2K26 has 200 Create-A-Superstar save slots and 2,000 image slots, according to the publisher’s 2026 capacity specifications. Those figures describe how much content the game can hold; they do not indicate how often saves are lost or how successful a particular restore will be.
Do these checks before changing anything
- Write down the platform and profile. Record whether you play on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Switch 2, and note the exact platform profile selected in the game. If several family profiles exist, do not assume the profile currently signed in is the one that owns the save.
- Stop the game cleanly. Exit WWE 2K26 and wait for it to finish saving. On PC, close Steam before making a manual folder copy. Do not copy files while the game is still writing them.
- Connect to the platform service. Cloud backup normally needs an internet connection. Sign in to the same platform account used to play and leave the console or PC online until synchronization has completed.
- Choose where the recovery copy will live. Cloud storage is the primary route on consoles. On PC, use Steam Cloud and a second drive or dated folder for the manual copy. A USB flash drive can be used as a destination for that PC copy; it is not a method for exporting console saves.
- Record the last known good session. Note the date and approximate time you last saw the correct Universe, CAWs, or progress. This gives you a reference when Steam displays different local and cloud timestamps.
- Do not overwrite your only copy. Keep the original cloud version and the first manual copy intact. Recovery experiments should be performed on a duplicate, not by repeatedly replacing the only backup.

How to back up WWE 2K26 on Steam
Enable Steam Cloud globally
- Open Steam and choose Steam > Settings.
- Open Cloud and enable the option to keep games saved in Steam Cloud.
- Leave Steam online. Do not begin troubleshooting until the game has had time to synchronize.
The global setting is only one part of the process. A per-game setting can override it, so check WWE 2K26 as well.
Check the WWE 2K26 Cloud Synchronization setting
- In Steam Library, right-click WWE 2K26 and choose Properties.
- Stay on General and locate the game’s Cloud Synchronization setting.
- Make sure cloud synchronization is enabled for this title.
- Close the Properties window, launch the game once if necessary, then exit normally so Steam can upload the latest save.
Steam’s cloud system stores local cloud files in its userdata area. The platform can compare local and cloud timestamps when synchronization has not completed, but it cannot know which version contains the progress you value most.

Make a second manual PC copy
A community discussion identifies the WWE 2K26 Steam app folder as userdata/<Steam account number>/3717070. Steam’s documentation identifies userdata as the default local area for cloud files, while the specific 3717070 identification comes from that community report. Confirm the folder against your own installation before relying on it.
- Exit WWE 2K26.
- Exit Steam completely, including its notification-area process. Copying while Steam is open can leave you with a changing or incomplete set of files.
- Open the Steam installation’s
userdatadirectory, then the folder for your Steam account number, and then3717070. - Copy the entire 3717070 folder to another internal drive, an external drive, or a USB flash drive.
- Name the destination with the date and a description such as
WWE2K26-before-repair-2026-10-15. - Open the copied folder and confirm that files are present. Do not edit, move, or delete the original until you have verified the duplicate.
This is an additional safeguard, not an officially documented export format. If the folder is absent or your Steam installation uses a different library arrangement, stop and verify the location rather than copying a guessed directory.

A conflict means Steam found changes in two places that were not synchronized. It cannot automatically decide which one is correct.

- Compare the displayed local and cloud timestamps with the last session in which your progress was correct.
- Consider what each version contains. A newer timestamp is not useful if it represents a damaged or reset save.
- Keep the separate manual copy you made before selecting a version.
- Choose the local or cloud copy that contains the progress you intend to retain, then allow Steam to complete synchronization.
- Launch WWE 2K26 and verify the important save before deleting any duplicate or changing another setting.
Never assume that “cloud” automatically means “newest” or “best.” Steam presents both versions precisely because both changed independently.

How to back up on PlayStation 5
Upload the PS5 save to cloud storage
2K’s cloud-save instructions require PlayStation Plus for PlayStation cloud saves. On a PS5, use this path:
- Open Settings.
- Choose Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
- Choose Saved Data (PS5).
- Select Upload or Delete from Console Storage.
- Choose Upload to Cloud Storage, select WWE 2K26, and start the upload.
- Wait for the upload to finish before deleting the game, rebuilding storage, entering Safe Mode, or reinstalling.
Use the profile that owns the save and confirm that WWE 2K26 appears in the selected data. If the console reports that cloud storage is unavailable, resolve the PlayStation Plus, network, or storage issue before changing local files.
Safe Mode and reinstall precautions
2K’s console troubleshooting guidance says to ensure a backup exists in cloud storage or on a USB drive before using PlayStation Safe Mode procedures. A backup should also exist before a reinstall. The general guidance mentions PS4 menu paths, but WWE 2K26 is listed for PS5 in the platform information used here. Follow the PS5 saved-data menus shown on your account rather than assuming a PS4 workflow applies.

Safe Mode operations and reinstalling are different from uploading a save. The repair action may leave the save untouched, but you should not rely on that possibility without a current cloud or USB backup.

Restore a PS5 save
After the repair or reinstall, sign in with the same PlayStation profile, install the same WWE 2K26 edition, and use the PS5 saved-data controls to download the cloud copy to console storage. Start the game only after the download completes, then check the Universe, CAWs, and other important progress. Online images or shared creations may still require the separate Community Creations workflow.
How to back up on Xbox Series X|S
2K says Xbox saves are automatically stored in the cloud while the console is connected to the Xbox network. The save becomes available when you sign in to another Xbox console with the same profile.
- Connect the console to the Xbox network.
- Sign in with the profile that normally plays WWE 2K26.
- Exit the game normally and leave the console online long enough for synchronization to complete.
- Before uninstalling or reinstalling, check the game’s saved-data entry in the console storage controls and make sure the expected save is present.
- After reinstalling, sign in with the same profile and allow the cloud synchronization to finish before launching the game.
Do not treat a different Xbox profile as interchangeable. The automatic cloud behavior depends on the profile used to play, and the available instructions do not establish a universal USB export method for Xbox console saves.
How to back up on Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 uses Save Data Cloud for this backup, and 2K’s instructions state that a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required.

- From the Home Menu, highlight WWE 2K26.
- Press + or − to open the software menu.
- Select Save Data Cloud.
- Choose the user profile that contains your WWE 2K26 save.
- Select Back Up Save Data and wait for the upload to finish.
Repeat the user selection carefully if more than one profile is present. A cloud backup for one Switch user does not automatically represent another user’s save.
After troubleshooting, return to the same Save Data Cloud menu, select the correct user, and download the cloud copy only after you are certain it is the version you want to restore. Do not overwrite a newer local save without first deciding which progress should be kept.

Retrieve uploaded images through Image Manager
If an image is missing after a repair, open Online > Community Creations > Image Manager and check the incoming tab. This is the documented route for retrieving uploaded images that remain available to your online account.
Image Manager does not constitute a complete save backup. It is not presented as a way to restore your entire Universe setup, all CAWs, downloaded arenas, or every setting stored in the platform save. Use it as a second recovery step after the platform save has been secured.
Understand console and Steam sharing boundaries
WWE 2K26 console Community Creations are shared among Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Steam is isolated from those console uploads, so a creation available through the console Community Creations service should not be assumed to appear on PC.
Switch 2 cross-platform content can be delayed while it goes through review. A missing item immediately after uploading or restoring is therefore not proof that the platform save failed. Check Image Manager and allow time for review before trying destructive repairs.
Restore the correct version after troubleshooting
- Stop and identify the account. Use the same platform profile that created the backup. Confirm that the game is installed on the intended platform and edition.
- Choose one recovery source. Use the cloud copy for the console or Steam, or work from the dated PC duplicate. Do not mix files from different sessions until you have verified each version.
- Let synchronization finish. Keep the device online during the download or Steam sync. Interrupting the process can leave an incomplete local state.
- Launch and verify before cleanup. Check the most valuable progress first: the expected Universe, a representative CAW, and any recent changes. Then check images and shared creations separately.
- Keep the pre-repair copy. Do not delete the dated cloud or local backup immediately after a successful launch. Retain it until you are confident that the repaired installation remains stable.

What a WWE 2K26 backup cannot guarantee
- It cannot move a complete save freely between platforms. No universal cross-platform save-export procedure is established for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch 2.
- It cannot guarantee that online-service content is present locally. A restored platform save may not contain an image or creation that was never synchronized or that is no longer available through the relevant service.
- It does not make a 2K account a replacement for the platform account. The platform identity remains the key to locating the save.
- It does not make a community-reported PC path official. The 3717070 folder is useful as a copy target only after you confirm it belongs to your installation.
- It does not prove that a newer timestamp is healthier. A conflict requires a progress-based decision, not an automatic preference for local or cloud.
Final pre-troubleshooting checklist
- Platform and playing profile recorded.
- WWE 2K26 exited normally.
- Steam Cloud enabled globally and for the game, or the relevant console cloud service selected.
- Upload completed while connected to the internet.
- PlayStation Plus confirmed for PS5 cloud saves, or Nintendo Switch Online confirmed for Switch 2 Save Data Cloud.
- Steam local/cloud timestamps checked if a conflict appeared.
- PC userdata folder copied only after both WWE 2K26 and Steam were closed.
- Manual PC copy stored in a dated location that will not be overwritten.
- Important images checked through Image Manager, with the understanding that this is not a complete save backup.
- Only now: Safe Mode, deletion, database repair, or reinstallation.
2K Support’s article “Restoring Saves from the Cloud,” published July 1, 2026, summarizes the account rule this way: “Keep in mind that an internet connection is usually needed to backup your saves, and that your saves are tied to your platform account, not your 2K, NBA 2K or SHiFT Accounts.” That distinction is why the platform-specific backup must come before troubleshooting.
