On a hosted server, create a recurring restart task in the provider’s control panel. On a self-hosted server, install and configure the third-party HyRestart mod. Neither method is confirmed as an official, built-in Hytale scheduler.

For most communities, start with one restart every 24 hours during the quietest period. A 12-hour or six-hour cycle can make sense when you observe memory growth or another operational reason, but there is no universal interval that suits every world and player base.

Which automatic restart method should you use?
Use the server host’s scheduler if your Hytale instance is rented from a game-server provider. This approach requires no code: the panel starts, stops or restarts the server on a timetable, while the host handles the underlying process.
If you operate the machine yourself, a third-party mod such as HyRestart is the documented route in the available community material. It adds clock-based restarts, progressive warnings and optional Discord notifications, but it introduces a compatibility dependency that does not exist with a host-managed task.

How host-panel scheduled restarts work
A panel scheduler stores a task outside the game’s normal server configuration. The task invokes the host’s power control at a specified time or interval. This is why you generally configure recurring restarts under Scheduled Tasks, Schedules or a similar control-panel area rather than adding a key to Hytale’s config.json.
The names and locations of controls can change as providers update their panels. If a label differs from the one below, look for a task whose action is explicitly called Restart Server, Restart or a power action with a restart payload.
Generic setup procedure
- Open the server control panel. Select the Hytale server instance you want to automate.
- Find the scheduling area. Common labels include Scheduled Tasks, Schedules, Quick Tasks and My Tasks.
- Create the restart action. Choose the action that restarts the server, not merely a start or stop action.
- Choose the cadence. Select a daily time or a repeating interval. Use the panel’s displayed time zone and confirm it against your local clock.
- Add a warning task. If the panel supports chat or warning commands, schedule notices before the restart. On panels that process tasks in order, place warning tasks before the restart task.
- Save and inspect the task list. Verify that the next-run time, recurrence and action all appear as intended.
- Observe one cycle. Keep an administrator online for the first scheduled run so you can confirm that the server warns players, shuts down cleanly and comes back online.
A scheduled restart is not a backup. Keep your normal world-backup process separate, and do not assume a restart protects against data loss or a failed update.
Provider-specific instructions

- Save the quick task.
- Open My Tasks and assign the desired schedule.
This two-stage layout means creating the action and assigning its timing are separate operations. Check both areas before leaving the panel; a saved quick task without a schedule will not restart the server automatically.

Host Havoc
- Open Scheduled Tasks.
- Create a Scheduled Start/Stop/Restart task.
- Choose the Daily type for a restart at the same time every day.
- For more frequent restarts, enable Repeat Task and set the interval.
An example in the host guidance uses a six-hour interval. Treat that as an example rather than a universal recommendation: four restarts per day may be disruptive for an active community and unnecessary for a lightly used world.
BisectHosting
- Open the Starbase panel.
- Go to the Schedules tab and create a schedule.
- Set the restart task to run at your chosen time or interval.
- Create warning-message tasks before the restart task in the schedule’s order.
The provider guidance recommends an interval of 12 to 24 hours. The ordering requirement matters: if the warning task is created after the restart task, players may receive no notice before the process is interrupted.
Cybrancee
- Create a schedule in the control panel.
- Add a task with the action set to Power action.
- Set the payload to restart.
- Choose a time when players are least likely to be online.
The available guidance recommends running this once every 24 hours. Confirm that the task’s payload is exactly a restart command; a generic power task can have different effects depending on the selected payload.
How to schedule a Hytale server restart every six hours
A six-hour schedule is useful only when it solves an observed operational problem, such as steadily increasing memory use between restarts. It is not established as a Hytale requirement. Before choosing it, check whether the downtime interrupts events, exploration or overnight activity.

- Choose four low-impact times separated by six hours, taking your players’ time zones into account.
- Create one repeating restart task, if your panel supports intervals, rather than four unrelated tasks.
- If the panel offers only fixed daily times, create four restart entries and verify that they do not overlap.
- Add a warning before each restart. A notice five or ten minutes ahead gives players time to leave dangerous areas, although the exact warning lead time is a server-administration choice rather than a documented Hytale requirement.
- Monitor the first day. If players report interruptions or the server is stable for longer periods, move to a 12-hour or daily cadence.
Do not confuse a six-hour repeat interval with “every six hours after the last restart.” Some panels anchor repetition to the task’s start time, while others calculate from completion. Read the panel’s next-run display and verify the sequence after the first execution.
How to warn players before an automatic restart
A restart task can terminate active sessions without context unless you add a separate warning mechanism. The panel instructions for BisectHosting specifically require warning-message tasks to be created before the restart task. HyRestart provides progressive warnings as part of the mod’s behavior.
Panel-based warnings
- Create one or more message tasks ahead of the restart action.
- Use clear language that states the restart time and expected interruption.
- Ensure the warning task targets in-game chat or the notification channel your players actually monitor.
- Place the message task before the restart task when the panel executes tasks in creation or list order.
- Test a warning manually if the panel provides a run-now option, then cancel or remove the test task.
Mod-based warnings
HyRestart sends progressive warnings before each configured restart. It can also post notifications to Discord, which is useful when players are not connected in-game. Configure the Discord destination only after confirming that the mod itself is restarting the server correctly; notifications cannot compensate for a failed restart process.
Self-hosted option: install and configure HyRestart
HyRestart is a third-party mod, not a confirmed Hytale feature. The documented installation flow is short, but it requires access to the server files and a compatible mod-loading environment.

- Obtain the HyRestart mod file from its current distribution source and check that its version matches your server’s mod environment.
- Stop the server before changing its files.
- Place the mod file in the server’s
modsfolder. Do not leave multiple incompatible copies of the same mod in that directory. - Start the server once. HyRestart uses this first launch to generate its configuration file.
- Stop the server again before editing the generated configuration.
- Set restart times in 24-hour format, such as
03:00,09:00,15:00and21:00. - Enable and configure warnings or Discord notifications if those options are present in the generated file and you need them.
- Start the server and inspect the log. Confirm that the mod loads without an error and that the next restart time is recognized.
The example times above create a four-times-per-day schedule. You can instead configure a single quiet-hour restart for a daily cadence. Use the exact key names generated by your installed version; do not copy settings from an unrelated release.
HyRestart and Pterodactyl
The mod listing warns that outside Pterodactyl, the server may not restart as expected. This is an environment caveat, not proof that every non-Pterodactyl installation fails. If you run another panel, test a planned restart while you can access the machine and recover it manually. Verify both parts of the cycle: the current process stops and a new server process starts.

Where not to configure the schedule
The main Hytale server configuration is described as JSON in config.json. A community guide says to edit that file with the server stopped and then restart the server for changes to take effect. That file is not the documented location for recurring control-panel tasks.
There is one important exception in this article: HyRestart stores its own restart settings in the configuration it generates after the first launch. That makes it a mod-specific configuration, not evidence of a native Hytale scheduler. Avoid adding arbitrary scheduler keys to config.json; without documented support, they may be ignored or make the file invalid.
Choosing a restart interval
The available host guidance converges on daily or 12-to-24-hour scheduling, but it does not establish a universal frequency. Base the decision on player activity and what you observe on your instance.

Record the symptoms that motivated the schedule, such as increasing memory use, crashes or lag after long uptimes. After several cycles, compare whether the symptom improves. If nothing changes, more restarts may only add downtime; investigate the underlying cause instead.

Troubleshooting scheduled restarts
The task never runs
- Confirm that the schedule is enabled and saved, not merely drafted.
- Check the panel’s displayed time zone and next-run timestamp.
- Verify that the action is Restart, not Start or Stop.
- For a provider that separates quick tasks from schedules, confirm both the action and its schedule exist.
- Look at the task history or server console for permission, payload or execution errors.
The server stops but does not return
- Check whether the host distinguishes a restart action from a stop followed by a start.
- Inspect startup logs for a failed update, missing file or mod error.
- If using HyRestart, test whether the problem occurs outside Pterodactyl, as noted in the mod listing.
- Keep console or panel access available so you can start the server manually during the first unattended test.
Players receive no warning
- Ensure the warning task is scheduled before the restart task.
- Check that the message action targets the correct server and channel.
- For HyRestart, verify that warning options are enabled in the generated mod configuration.
- Do not assume a restart task automatically broadcasts a message; many panels only execute the power action.
The restart occurs at the wrong time
- Compare the panel’s time zone with the time zone used by your community.
- Check daylight-saving changes if the provider exposes a named regional time zone.
- For HyRestart, use 24-hour notation and preserve leading zeroes, such as
03:00. - Review the next-run preview after every schedule edit.
The mod fails after installation
- Stop the server and confirm the file is in the correct
modsdirectory. - Remove duplicate or incompatible copies.
- Start once to allow configuration generation, then edit the generated file rather than creating a new file with guessed names.
- Read the startup log for a version or dependency error.
- If the server is not managed by Pterodactyl, perform a supervised restart test before relying on the schedule.
Operational checklist before leaving automation unattended
- Choose one quiet restart time or a documented repeating interval.
- Confirm the task uses a restart action and is enabled.
- Set warning messages before the restart task.
- Check the panel’s time zone and next-run display.
- Keep current backups separate from the restart schedule.
- Watch at least one complete stop-and-start cycle.
- Record whether the restart addresses the problem that motivated it.
- Recheck the schedule after panel, mod or server-version changes.
Is an automatic restart built into Hytale?
No official Hytale page confirming a native restart scheduler was located in the documentation searches reviewed for this guide. The practical methods currently documented are host-panel scheduled tasks and the third-party HyRestart mod. Because panel interfaces and mod compatibility can change, verify the current instructions for your provider or mod release before applying them to a production world.
