To rotate prerecorded videos on a 24/7 YouTube live stream, send a looping file or playlist through an encoder. With OBS, you can do this from a local computer, but that computer, its files, power and internet connection must stay available. Cloud playout runs the feed on a service’s servers instead. Before setting up either option, make sure your channel is eligible to livestream and that you have the rights to everything you broadcast.
What video rotation means on YouTube Live
A rotating video stream is not an ordinary YouTube playlist. An encoder sends YouTube a continuous live feed made from your prerecorded videos; the encoder repeats one file or moves through a playlist. YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming, subject to channel eligibility and current platform requirements. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
This approach is useful for authorized devotional programming, music, educational material or other recordings that are meant to remain available as a live channel. It does not make prerecorded material exempt from YouTube’s copyright or monetization policies.
Check your channel and content before going live
Confirm live-stream eligibility
YouTube’s guidance says a channel must be verified and must have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also states that users must be at least 16 to livestream. Check the channel’s Live Control Room for account-specific status and current requirements before configuring an encoder: Get started with live streaming.

Clear every part of the recording
Use videos, music, images and embedded material that you own or are authorized to broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can result in a placeholder, warning, interruption or termination. If you have a license for third-party content, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not stop a live interruption. Keep permission records and review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
Set up video rotation locally with OBS
OBS is the do-it-yourself option if you want to control the playlist on your own computer rather than use a cloud playout service. Its media source supports playback controls; consult the current OBS Media Sources documentation for the controls available in your version. The precise interface can change, so confirm the labels in your installed OBS release.

- Prepare your media. Put only cleared recordings in a dedicated folder. Check that each file plays and has the expected video and audio. Keep the files in place while streaming; moving or disconnecting them can break playback.
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, use the live-streaming workflow to create or configure a stream, and select an encoder workflow. Follow the current prompts in Live Control Room to obtain the stream key and server details.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose the YouTube service if available, and enter the stream key from Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not share it publicly.
- Add a video source. In the desired OBS scene, add a Media Source and select the recording. Enable looping/repeat in that source’s properties if you want the same file to replay continuously. To rotate several files, create a playlist source or arrange multiple media sources using the playlist capability available in your OBS version; check that transitions and audio behave as intended.
- Test before the long run. Watch the OBS preview and YouTube’s stream preview. Confirm that the picture, sound, order and repeat behavior are correct, then start streaming from OBS and verify that YouTube shows the live feed.
- Keep the local setup running. Leave OBS open, the media accessible, the computer powered and the internet connection stable. Monitor Live Control Room so you can notice if the feed or playback stops.
Resolution, bitrate and keyframes
Use settings that your computer and upload connection can sustain, and follow YouTube’s current encoder recommendations shown in its live setup guidance. The supplied platform guidance does not establish one bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval suitable for every channel and format, so do not copy a number without checking YouTube’s current requirements for your selected output. A higher output setting requires more encoding capacity and upload bandwidth; test the stream before leaving it unattended.
What the local method depends on
- The computer must remain on and able to run OBS continuously.
- The source files must remain accessible to OBS.
- Power, the encoder and a stable internet uplink must remain available.
- A person or monitoring process should be able to notice and respond to a failed feed.
A dedicated computer can make sense if you prefer local control and already have suitable hardware. If you are considering a “mini PC for OBS streaming,” treat it as an optional way to provide a computer for the local workflow, not as a required model or tested recommendation. Cloud playout avoids needing a dedicated always-on computer at home.

Choose between local OBS and cloud playout

No independent head-to-head reliability test establishes which approach stays live longer. Local streaming gives you direct control but depends on your home setup; cloud streaming shifts that dependency to a vendor and its service. Compare playlist editing, scheduling, recovery controls, storage, destination support and account-connection practices before choosing.

GoLiveIndia advertises cloud playlist looping, scheduled starts, playlist changes during a stream and operation without leaving a local device on. Its page displayed an Ultra Live plan at ₹1,071/month when checked on October 3, 2026, with 24/7 loop streaming, unlimited live duration, 1080p, playlist and schedule support, and six stored videos. These are vendor-stated features and a displayed price, not independently verified uptime findings; check the current offer and terms on GoLiveIndia’s plan page. The same page lists a one-hour maximum for its free tier, so that tier is not presented as a 24/7 plan.
Other vendors describe cloud automation as an alternative to keeping a local encoder running. For example, Callaba’s 24/7 workflow guide discusses local and cloud approaches. Its account is vendor-authored guidance, not an independent reliability assessment. Before connecting any service, understand how it accesses your YouTube channel and stream key, what controls you retain, and how you would stop or recover a stream.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
OBS is not sending a feed to YouTube
- Check that the stream key in OBS matches the current key in YouTube Studio and has not been reset.
- Confirm that the channel is eligible to livestream and inspect Live Control Room for account restrictions or stream status.
- Check that OBS is actually streaming and that the computer has internet access.
The video stops, freezes or does not repeat
- Confirm that the media file still exists at the path selected in the source and is readable.
- Open the Media Source properties and verify the repeat/loop setting, or inspect the playlist source order and playback behavior.
- Test the file in OBS before restarting a long broadcast; playback problems may be specific to the file or source configuration.
The stream drops unexpectedly
- For local OBS, check power, computer sleep settings, network stability and whether OBS remains open. Restore the encoder feed and confirm the live preview returns.
- For cloud playout, check the service’s stream status and recovery controls, then check YouTube Live Control Room independently. A cloud service does not remove the need to monitor the destination.
YouTube interrupts or blocks the stream
Review Live Control Room notifications and copyright status. Remove or replace material you are not authorized to broadcast; where you have permission for Content ID-managed material, contact the rights holder about allowlisting your channel. YouTube’s live scan may interrupt a stream even when you hold a license if the allowlisting step has not been arranged.
Keep the stream sustainable
A 24/7 stream needs more than a working loop: it needs valid rights, a channel that remains eligible, a dependable encoder path and a way to detect failure. Decide who will respond to interruptions, keep access to the stream key secure, and periodically review the live feed and playlist rather than assuming that a running process means YouTube is receiving the intended content. The cited YouTube guidance describes general platform requirements; it does not establish a separate India-only rule for continuous streams.
