Open the Happo comparison linked from your CI run, pull request, or Happo job page. Review the before-and-after screenshots and diff, decide whether the change matches the intended code change, then select Accept for an expected change or Reject for an unintended or unexplained one. Since September 3, 2026, those controls are one-click toggles on comparison pages and multi-project job pages.
How to approve or reject visual changes in Happo
- Open the comparison from the relevant CI job, pull request, or Happo job page. These workflows provide links for visual review.
- Inspect the screenshots using the side-by-side, diff, or swipe view. Side-by-side helps compare whole screens; the diff highlights changed pixels; swipe lets you toggle between the old and new render.
- Check the affected stories or screens, browsers, and viewports represented by the run. A code change may affect multiple rendered examples, so do not judge a result from one screenshot alone.
- Choose Accept if the visual changes are expected and acceptable under your team’s review policy. Choose Reject if they are unintended or cannot yet be explained. Happo provides the controls but does not prescribe a universal acceptance policy.
Happo announced on September 3, 2026 that Accept and Reject replaced the former two-click dropdown workflow on comparison and multi-project job pages.

Reviewing multi-project jobs
For a job covering several projects, use the status grouping and sortable columns to find projects that need attention. You can hide unchanged projects and use the completed-projects-with-diffs summary to gauge the scope of the review before resolving changes. Review the affected comparisons rather than accepting or rejecting a whole job based only on its summary.
What to check before deciding
Confirm the change matches the code or design intent
Compare each changed region with the intended update. Consider whether the run covers all relevant stories, screens, browsers, and viewports. A founder-authored Happo launch post described one icon change that produced 896 diffs across page variants and browsers; that is an illustrative example, not a typical result or a general measure of coverage.

- Carefully designed questions: Ensuring a solid understanding of concepts
- Engaging activities: Offering a mix of enjoyable exercises
- Problem-solving techniques: Providing strategies for tackling challenges
- Vibrant, full-color visuals: Enhancing learning with captivating illustrations
Separate visual noise from a real regression
If a diff appears to be caused by anti-aliasing or image-compression noise, check whether the run uses color-delta tolerance. Happo says tolerance can ignore small pixel differences. It does not establish that a substantive layout, color, or styling change is harmless, so inspect the underlying change before resolving it.
What a Happo comparison proves—and what it does not
A comparison shows screenshots against a baseline for the browsers, viewports, and states that the team configured and ran. Storybook, Cypress, and Playwright integrations support visual workflows; Storybook can capture interactive states such as loading, error, hover, and open menus. Happo also describes accessibility regression checks as an option alongside screenshot runs. A comparison cannot establish coverage for screens, states, or environments that were not included in that run.

Use the review method that fits the change: the UI is appropriate for inspecting diffs directly; an authenticated MCP client can help locate and inspect comparisons, especially when there are many affected snapshots. Neither method removes the need to judge whether a change is acceptable for the product.
Reviewing a comparison with Happo MCP
Happo’s official MCP documentation lists tools to find comparisons for a commit SHA, retrieve comparison details—including diffs and added, deleted, or ignored snapshots—approve or reject a comparison that needs review, and report a specific diff as a flake.
Rank #3
Reporting a flake ignores that diff and records a Flake row attributed to the connected user. The MCP server uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1. The assistant inherits the connected Happo account’s permissions, and approvals and rejections are recorded against that user, as they are in the UI. Revoke a connection from the Connected applications section of account API token settings.

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers say which page verdict applied and whether it was billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. These are separate screenshot captures, not Happo approvals or replacements for reviewing a baseline diff.

Troubleshooting
- The comparison is missing: Open the review link from the CI job, pull request, or Happo job page that generated it. Confirm the relevant run completed and produced a comparison.
- A control is unavailable: Check whether the comparison is marked as needing review and whether your connected Happo account is authorized to resolve it. MCP actions inherit that account’s permissions.
- There are many diffs: In a multi-project job, use status grouping, sorting, the option to hide unchanged projects, and the completed-projects-with-diffs summary to locate affected work; then inspect each relevant comparison.
- Small pixel changes dominate the diff: Check whether the run uses color-delta tolerance. Treat it as a way to reduce minor noise, not as proof that a broader visual change is safe.
- You need to undo or change an MCP connection: Revoke it under Connected applications in account API token settings, then reconnect with the intended account if needed.
