How to Allow Microphone, Camera, and Notifications for Adobe Connect on Android

Enable Adobe Connect’s Android microphone and camera permissions, turn on notifications separately, and check device-wide controls or host restrictions if audio or video still fails.

To allow Adobe Connect to use your microphone and camera on Android, open Settings > Apps > Adobe Connect > Permissions and set both permissions to Allow. Turn on notifications separately from the app’s info page if you want alerts. If audio or video still does not work, check Android’s device-wide privacy controls and the meeting host’s microphone settings; these are separate from the app permissions.

Allow microphone and camera access

  1. Open your phone’s Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps, then Adobe Connect. If it is not listed, tap See all apps and find it there.
  3. Tap Permissions.
  4. Tap Microphone and choose Allow. If Android offers Allow only while using the app, that is a suitable option for using audio in Adobe Connect while it is open.
  5. Return to the permissions list, tap Camera, and choose Allow or Allow only while using the app, if offered.

Android’s exact labels and menu placement vary by phone manufacturer and Android version. Google’s standard instructions are to open Settings, choose Apps, select the app, open Permissions, and set the permission you want to change: Change app permissions on your Android phone.

Turn on Adobe Connect notifications

From the Adobe Connect app’s info page in Settings, look for Notifications and enable the alerts you want. Depending on your phone, this may appear as a separate menu rather than under Permissions.

Notifications are a separate preference, not a microphone or camera setting. Adobe’s mobile app information describes audio and camera features, but does not establish notification access as a requirement for joining a meeting or using audio and video. Google explains how app permissions work separately: Android app permissions.

Understand the three access controls

Adobe Connect audio and video depend on more than the app’s permission screen. Check the relevant layer for the problem:

  • App permission: Android must allow Adobe Connect to use the microphone or camera.
  • Device-wide privacy control: Android’s camera and microphone master controls can block access for apps, even when Adobe Connect’s individual permissions are allowed. Look in Quick Settings or your phone’s privacy controls; the route varies by device. Google’s Android permission guidance covers these controls.
  • Meeting permission: The host controls whether attendees can speak. An Android permission cannot override meeting-level restrictions.

Fix common microphone and camera problems

Adobe Connect is not picking up the microphone

  1. Recheck Settings > Apps > Adobe Connect > Permissions > Microphone and allow access.
  2. Check that Android’s device-wide microphone control is on.
  3. Close other apps that may be using the microphone, then leave and rejoin the meeting if necessary. Adobe lists another app using an audio device and disabled system permissions among possible causes of microphone trouble.
  4. If the microphone control is greyed out or you still cannot speak, ask the host to grant microphone rights. Adobe meeting hosts can allow participant microphones, require participants to request access, or use single-speaker mode. See Adobe’s guide to setting up and managing meeting audio.

The camera will not turn on

Confirm Camera is allowed for Adobe Connect and that Android’s device-wide camera control is enabled. If both are on, the cause may be elsewhere in the meeting or device; the app permission alone does not guarantee that video is available in every meeting.

Bluetooth audio sounds poor

Adobe Connect supports headsets and Bluetooth audio, as well as built-in microphone and speakers. If Bluetooth quality is poor, Adobe’s mobile troubleshooting guidance suggests trying wired headphones. Headphones are optional and do not grant microphone or camera permission. Use the current Adobe Connect app

Make sure you installed Adobe Connect, not the older Adobe Connect Classic app. Adobe’s transition information says Classic was removed from Google Play in 2024 and identifies the newer mobile app as the supported app for current meetings.
