To align Windows 11 taskbar icons, open Taskbar settings, expand Taskbar behaviors, and choose Left or Center under Taskbar alignment. This changes where the icons sit along the bottom taskbar; it does not move the whole taskbar to another edge of the screen.

What the Left and Center options change
| Option | Icon placement | Windows 11 default |
|---|---|---|
| Center | Icons are centered along the bottom taskbar. | Yes |
| Left | Icons are aligned toward the left side of the bottom taskbar. | No |
These are alignment choices, not separate taskbar locations. Choosing Left does not move the bar itself to the left edge of the display.
Can you move the whole taskbar to the top or side?
Windows 11’s documented Taskbar settings do not provide a way to move the taskbar to the top or a side of the screen. Microsoft describes the taskbar as positioned at the bottom and says there are no settings to move it to another edge. The built-in alignment control only places its icons left or center.

Why registry instructions are not needed
Microsoft Learn’s Windows 11 settings reference lists alignment values of 0 for left and 1 for center. That reference is not necessary for changing the layout: use the Taskbar settings controls above rather than editing the registry.
