Manage the Emoji keyboard at Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards. To add it, tap Add New Keyboard and select Emoji. To remove it, delete the Emoji entry from that list using the control shown on your iPhone.
Add the Emoji keyboard
- Open Settings.
- Tap General, then Keyboard.
- Tap Keyboards.
- Tap Add New Keyboard and choose Emoji.

Remove the Emoji keyboard
- Open Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.
- Find Emoji in the list.
- Use the delete control shown for the Emoji entry. Apple’s iPhone guide describes swiping left on the keyboard and tapping Delete. Some localized Apple documentation shows an Edit button and delete controls instead; follow the option visible in your list. See Apple’s guide to adding or changing iPhone keyboards.
Switch to emoji while typing
Adding a keyboard in Settings and switching to it while typing are separate actions. Once Emoji is installed, tap a text field and then tap the Emoji button or the Next Keyboard key to open it. Choose an emoji to insert it; tap ABC to return to the regular keyboard. Apple documents these controls in its iPhone guide to emoji, Memoji and stickers.
