In new Outlook, turn on the Teams meeting toggle while creating a calendar event; in classic Outlook, select Teams Meeting in Calendar. New Outlook uses an integrated feature, while classic Outlook relies on a Teams Meeting add-in.
Identify your Outlook app first
Microsoft’s scheduling guidance says to look for Settings on the ribbon: if it appears, follow the new Outlook steps; if it does not, use the classic Outlook steps. If your interface differs, consult Microsoft’s current scheduling instructions.

Add a Teams meeting in new Outlook
Microsoft says the Teams meeting feature is integrated into new Outlook. To use it, sign in to Outlook and Teams with the same work or school account, and use the new Teams client. You do not need to install the classic Outlook add-in. See Microsoft’s guidance for the Teams meeting feature in new Outlook.

Add a Teams meeting in classic Outlook
Classic Outlook uses the Teams Meeting add-in. Fix a missing Teams Meeting button in classic Outlook
These steps apply to classic Outlook. COM add-ins continue to work in classic Outlook but are not supported in new Outlook, so do not use this add-in recovery path for new Outlook. See Microsoft’s information about add-in behavior in classic Outlook.
Restart Teams and Outlook, then check add-in status

- Close Outlook and start it again.
Microsoft provides more steps on its Teams Meeting add-in troubleshooting page. It also offers an automated troubleshooter for classic Outlook; Microsoft says it requires Windows 10 or higher and does not work with new Outlook.
