Use a browser-specific SDK in the React app and a Node.js SDK in the server. Initialize each in its own runtime before the application code it needs to observe, then verify events, add a React error boundary where useful, and configure source maps for readable production stack traces. This walkthrough uses Sentry’s documented JavaScript integrations; “API” here means the SDK interfaces your app imports, not a custom endpoint you need to build.
What “error tracking API” means for this setup
For a React-and-Node.js SaaS app, error tracking is usually added by importing a service’s SDK into each runtime. The browser client and server are separate execution environments, so each needs its own integration and project configuration. Sentry’s JavaScript SDK guide lists distinct packages for React and Node.js: Sentry JavaScript SDK guide.
This is different from integrating a service’s HTTP API directly. Sentry’s API reference documents its API; it is not evidence that your application needs to create a new error-reporting endpoint. In a typical SDK integration, your code initializes the SDK and the SDK sends events to the configured destination.
Set up the React browser app
Install and initialize the React SDK early
Follow the current React installation instructions for the package and framework setup that match your app. Initialize the SDK before React is initialized or mounted, so it can observe errors from the application rather than starting after the relevant code has run. Configure the browser integration with the DSN for the appropriate project, which identifies the event destination. See Sentry’s React SDK guide.

#1 Best Overall
Use the browser project’s intended settings in browser code. Do not put secrets or private server configuration in a client bundle: code shipped to a browser is available to users.
Add an error boundary for component-tree failures
When a failed component subtree should show a recovery interface, wrap the relevant part of the React tree in the SDK’s ErrorBoundary and provide a fallback. The boundary can capture JavaScript errors in its component tree and render that fallback. It is a targeted UI recovery mechanism; it does not replace runtime-wide error capture or server-side monitoring.
Instrument the Node.js server
Load instrumentation before application modules
Install and initialize the Node.js SDK according to the JavaScript SDK guide. Load the instrumentation as early as possible—and before the application modules that need automatic instrumentation. If application modules load first, the SDK may not be able to instrument them as intended.
Keep server setup separate from browser setup. Configure the server SDK for the server’s project and destination, and keep private configuration on the server rather than exposing it through React’s client bundle.

- Instant Alert & 24/7 Monitoring - Keep tabs on your Home, RV, Car, or Pets from anywhere with the 3-in-1 temperature, humidity & power outage monitor. Customize the high and low temp/humidity thresholds and add up to 5 contacts for unlimited text and email alerts. Receive real-time alerts if critical changes in temp/humidity or a power loss occurs.
- Rechargeable Internal Battery - The Necto smart RV and pet monitor has a 3 day long-lasting rechargeable battery. Unlike WiFi sensors, Necto provides continuous monitoring in the event of a power outage, via its built-in battery and cellular technology. Receive instant alerts on your phone when battery power is low or if the device disconnects from the network.
- Intuitive Mobile App & Easy Setup - Our user-friendly mobile app gives you remote access to your sensor from anywhere. Use your smartphone or PC to customize alert thresholds, view past readings, and manage device settings with ease. The sensor takes minutes to install and requires no technical expertise. Simply activate the device through the app and plug it into any standard wall outlet.
- Fast Refresh & Free Data Storage - The industrial built-in temperature and humidity sensor takes readings every 10 seconds to make sure the temp/humidity are within the safe range. Every 10 minutes the most recent reading is updated on the online portal. Readings are stored on our servers for 1 year and can be downloaded anytime on a CSV file.
Make production stack traces readable
Production builds commonly minify or transpile code, making stack traces harder to map to the original files. Source maps let the monitoring service translate those traces back into original source terms. The React SDK guide describes uploading source maps through build plugins or the CLI: React SDK guide: source maps.
Choose an upload and serving approach that fits your deployment and security requirements. In particular, decide whether publicly served source maps are acceptable for your app. Source maps improve diagnosis, but their availability and exposure should be deliberate rather than an accidental side effect of the build.

- 【Remote Control Operations Server】Sipeed NanoKVM is an IP-KVM solution based on the LicheeRV Nano RISC-V Linux single-board computer, inheriting the Nano's compact form factor and powerful capabilities. Breaking free from traditional host requirements for network connectivity and system software, NanoKVM functions as an external hardware device directly providing remote control capabilities.
- 【Powerful Interfaces】Sipeed NanoKVM features one HDMI input port that can be recognized by a computer as a display to capture screen content. One USB 2.0 port connects to the computer host, functioning as a HID device (e.g., keyboard, mouse, touchpad). It also utilizes spare TF card storage space, mounting it as a USB flash drive device.
- 【100Mbps Ethernet Support】Sipeed NanoKVM features a 100Mbps Ethernet port for network transmission of video and control signals. The Full version additionally includes an ATX power control interface (USB-C) for remote host power status monitoring and control. The Full version housing also incorporates an OLED display showing the device's IP address and KVM-related status.
- 【Server Management】Sipeed NanoKVM enables real-time monitoring and control of server operations. Supports remote desktop access and host power cycling: NanoKVM overcomes limitations requiring the host to be networked or specific system software, functioning as external hardware to provide direct remote control capabilities.
- 【Supports Remote Installation】Sipeed NanoKVM emulates a USB flash drive device, enabling mounting of installation images for system deployment or access to computer BIOS settings. The NanoKVM Lite features two serial ports for use with IPMI or connection to other development boards via web-based serial terminal interaction. Users may also expand functionality with additional accessories.
Verify that both runtimes send events
- Start the app with the React and Node.js SDKs initialized in their respective runtimes.
- In development, deliberately trigger a test exception in the browser app, following the verification approach in the React SDK guide.
- Open the relevant monitoring project and confirm that the event appears. Check the server runtime separately with a controlled server-side exception so you know both integrations are reporting.
- After deploying a release, inspect a production event’s stack trace and confirm that source maps resolve it to the expected original files.
Keep deliberate test failures controlled: use a development environment or a clearly identifiable test event so they are not mistaken for customer-impacting errors.
Filter events and remove sensitive data
Before events leave the app, review what data they may contain and apply filtering or scrubbing where appropriate. The JavaScript SDK guide demonstrates a beforeSend hook for dropping selected events and removing sensitive user data: JavaScript SDK guide. Treat its example as a starting point, not a universal privacy policy; adapt the rules to the data your application actually handles and the requirements that apply to it.

Implementation checklist
- Use the React SDK for browser-side errors and the Node.js SDK for server-side errors.
- Initialize each SDK early; on Node.js, load instrumentation before the modules it should instrument.
- Use a React ErrorBoundary when a subtree-specific fallback improves recovery.
- Configure source-map uploads as part of the build or release workflow, and choose intentionally whether maps are publicly accessible.
- Trigger controlled test errors and check that events reach the correct monitoring project.
- Review event payloads and configure filtering or scrubbing before sending sensitive data.
