Keep the API key out of renderer code and packaged client files. Choose a complete audio response for simple clip generation, or HTTP streaming when the interface should process audio as it arrives.
Choose how audio should reach the app
ElevenLabs supports both complete text-to-speech responses and streaming. The right choice depends on whether the UI can wait for the whole clip or should begin handling audio before generation finishes.

| Approach | Use it when | Trade-off or check |
|---|---|---|
Complete response (convert) |
You generate short clips, save audio, or can wait for synthesis to finish. | Straightforward for file-oriented handling; playback starts after the response completes. ElevenLabs convert reference |
| HTTP audio streaming | The UI should begin processing audio before synthesis is complete. | Requires incremental chunk handling and a player compatible with the selected encoding. Streaming guide and stream endpoint reference |
| WebSocket stream-input | Text arrives incrementally or the app needs a persistent real-time synthesis connection. | It is a separate protocol, and its documented endpoint does not support eleven_v3 or eleven_v4. WebSocket guide |
HTTP streaming is not the same as sending text incrementally over a WebSocket: the HTTP stream returns audio chunks for a request, while the WebSocket flow supports text sent over a long-lived connection. Check the selected model’s support before choosing the latter.

ElevenLabs warns: “Your API key is a secret. Do not share it with others or expose it in any client-side code (browsers, apps).” ElevenLabs API authentication Consequently, do not call the authenticated API directly from renderer JavaScript or ship a long-lived key in the application bundle. A developer-only .env file can assist local development, but packaging that value with a desktop app does not make it secret.

Use three narrow responsibilities:
- Renderer: collect the text and permitted user options, invoke one exposed operation, then play or display the returned audio.
- Preload: expose a limited function such as
generateSpeech(text, options); do not exposeipcRendereror a generic channel-sending method. - Main process or trusted backend: validate the request, authenticate to ElevenLabs with the protected key, and return audio data or a controlled stream with a useful error result.
Electron recommends context isolation, sandboxing, avoiding Node integration for untrusted content, validating IPC senders, and limiting exposed APIs. Its documentation says context isolation is enabled by default since Electron 12; configure the intended protections explicitly and consult the current Electron security checklist and context isolation guide.
Implement a complete-response flow
- Install the official client in the trusted process. The package documented by ElevenLabs is
@elevenlabs/elevenlabs-js. Check the current SDK signature while implementing, since package APIs can change. API introduction - Load the key through an appropriate protected configuration path. Create the client in the main process or use a trusted backend. For a distributed app, a centrally controlled credential belongs on a server protected by user authentication, authorization, and rate limits. If users enter their own key, explain where it is stored and that local storage cannot provide the same protection as a server-held secret.
- Validate before making the request. Check the renderer sender and constrain text and options at the main-process boundary. Accept only the voice, model, and output-format choices the UI actually supports.
- Request and return audio. ElevenLabs’ quickstart demonstrates text, voice ID, model ID, and MP3 output. The endpoint reference also documents a default model and voice settings; use a voice the account can access and verify current model support. Return audio bytes or save a file only in response to an explicit user action. Text-to-speech quickstart and convert reference
- Return a controlled result. Send the renderer audio data plus a useful success or error outcome. Avoid forwarding arbitrary provider controls or response headers unless the application needs them.
Use HTTP streaming when incremental audio matters
The documented HTTP endpoint is POST /v1/text-to-speech/:voice_id/stream. It returns chunked audio, and the official Node example consumes the stream asynchronously. Keep the authenticated request in the main process or backend, then relay only the data the renderer needs. Confirm that the chosen encoding is playable by the UI’s audio path; receiving chunks does not by itself guarantee seamless playback.

- 2 pcs Lavalier mic,Please be noted that this lapel mic is specially designed for all Voice amplifiers but not suitable for PC/smartphone!!!
- Lavalier mic, Cable up to about 3.9ft (120cm) long, accessible to your month even though you are using monopod
- The fun-based Voice Amplifier with this clip-on microphone can make you more comfortable and enjoy.
- The mode clip-on microphone can fixed on the music instruments for amplification(With the use of voice amplifiers ) which is popular for music lovers.
- Designed as Omnidirectional, no whistle, durable, long-term use.
Some stream parameters have tier requirements. In the endpoint reference, MP3 at 192 kbps requires Creator tier or above, while PCM at 44.1 kHz requires Pro tier or above. These are endpoint-specific requirements, not a complete plan or pricing comparison. Recheck the reference for the selected encoding and account before exposing that option in the app. Stream endpoint reference
Limit the preload bridge and validate IPC
Expose an operation for the intended task, not general access to IPC. A bridge should accept only the arguments the feature needs; the main process should independently validate them and confirm that the IPC sender is an expected application window. Electron warns against exposing arbitrary channel names or the full ipcRenderer object because renderer code could then invoke unintended IPC messages. See the security checklist and context isolation guide.

For production key management, ElevenLabs documents endpoint scopes, credit quotas, and IP allowlisting. A request rejected by an IP allowlist returns 403. These controls can reduce the impact of a compromised key when they fit the deployment architecture. The API documentation also describes a character-cost response header and request and trace IDs in raw responses, which can help with usage monitoring and troubleshooting. Authentication documentation and API introduction
Check model, language, and account compatibility
Model and output-format availability can vary. Confirm access to the chosen voice and model, and recheck current endpoint constraints rather than assuming every account supports every encoding. The ElevenLabs product overview says its models adapt to textual cues across 32 languages; the documentation reviewed does not specify a year for that figure, and supported language behavior can change. Consult current model documentation for the language and model you intend to offer. Text-to-speech overview
