How to Add a Static Temple Image to a 24/7 Bhajan Stream

Use an OBS scene to pair a static temple image with bhajan audio, then connect and test it on YouTube Live. Learn what continuous operation requires and how cloud playout can avoid leaving a computer on.

To put a still temple image behind continuous bhajan audio, add the image and audio to an OBS scene, connect OBS to YouTube Live with your stream key, and test the picture and sound before going public. The image is only the visual layer: for a local broadcast, the computer, OBS, and internet connection must keep running. If you do not want a computer running at home, a cloud playout service is an alternative.

Prepare the temple image and audio

  • Choose a clear landscape image that fits the stream canvas. Keep important lettering away from the edges, where overlays or mobile displays may obscure it. OBS and YouTube do not prescribe a special temple-image size in the cited guidance.
  • Use an image you have permission to broadcast. Confirm that you also have the necessary rights to stream every bhajan recording or performance.
  • Decide how OBS will receive the bhajan audio: for example, from a media file played in OBS or from a playback device routed into OBS. Make sure the intended source is available before starting the stream.

Build the still-image scene in OBS

  1. Create a scene: In OBS, add a scene for the bhajan stream. OBS scenes combine sources into the image and sound sent to the encoder.
  2. Add the image: Add an image source and select the temple picture. OBS maintains a dedicated Image Sources guide; available labels can vary by installed version. Its media-source documentation explains how media files can be added to scenes: OBS Project: Media Sources.
  3. Fit the canvas: Arrange the image to cover the output canvas. Check for unintended borders, stretching, or cropping. If the source’s proportions differ from the canvas, choose whether to crop or preserve the whole image rather than distort it.
  4. Add the audio: Add the bhajan file or route the correct playback device to OBS. Watch the audio mixer while audio is playing; the meter should respond. Listen to the output to check for silence, clipping, or the wrong device.
  5. Check the complete scene: Confirm the picture is visible and the audio meter responds. If you use scene changes or a playlist, test those transitions as well.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. Enable live streaming if needed: YouTube says first-time live-streaming enablement may take up to 24 hours. Complete this before a planned launch rather than waiting until the last minute.
  2. Create or open a stream: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a stream. Copy the server details and stream key shown for the encoder connection.
  3. Enter the connection details in OBS: Set OBS to use the YouTube server and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen, share it, or leave it exposed in a public recording.
  4. Start the encoder and inspect the preview: Start streaming from OBS, then check YouTube’s incoming preview and stream health before making the broadcast public. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the connection workflow: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Choose encoder settings and test the stream

YouTube recommends RTMPS and publishes general live-ingest recommendations by resolution and frame rate. For H.264, its recommendations include 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are platform recommendations, not guarantees that a particular internet connection can sustain the stream or special requirements for a still image. Check YouTube’s current table for the resolution, frame rate, and codec you intend to use: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

  • Choose a resolution and frame rate your computer and upload connection can sustain. Test upload capacity before launch; leave headroom rather than setting the encoder at the limit of the connection.
  • Use the recommended bitrate for the chosen settings as a starting point, then check YouTube’s incoming stream health. A static picture does not remove the need to send audio and maintain a live encoder connection.
  • Run a private or unlisted rehearsal with the actual bhajan audio and scene. Verify sound, picture framing, and any scene or playlist transitions.
  • Monitor stream health during the broadcast. YouTube advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”

Plan for continuous operation and interruptions

A local OBS stream depends on the computer, encoder, audio source, and internet connection remaining available. Decide who will notice a stopped audio file or dropped connection and who can restore the stream. YouTube’s encoder directory also lists cloud services for continuous prerecorded-video playout without a dedicated PC, including Gyre, and AJA HELO Plus for scheduled media playout. These are different operating approaches; the directory does not establish comparative reliability or cost.

Do not assume one 24-hour broadcast produces one complete archive: YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Consult YouTube’s current stream-management guidance and plan archives separately if you need a full-day recording.

Check copyright for both picture and sound

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may replace a broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. YouTube states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” Review Copyright issues with live streams, and confirm permissions for both the temple image and each bhajan recording or performance before broadcasting.
