Add the logo and ticker in your streaming software before the video reaches YouTube. In OBS Studio, place the prerecorded clip in a Media Source, add the logo as an Image Source and the ticker as a Text Source or Browser Source, then layer and position them in the scene. Connect OBS to YouTube with the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio.
What you need to know before you start
YouTube’s encoder setup connects an encoder to a live stream; the documented workflow does not make YouTube Studio the place to compose graphics. Put the logo and ticker into the outgoing video in OBS, or use another service that explicitly supports the graphics you need.

- Install OBS Studio and have the prerecorded video and logo file ready.
- Have access to YouTube Studio so you can create or select a live stream and retrieve its stream URL and key.
- Plan the ticker wording and placement. A fixed text source is straightforward; a moving ticker requires an animation or browser-based graphic, not just a basic text source.
Add the logo and ticker in OBS
- Prepare the assets. A transparent PNG works well for a logo that should sit over the video without a solid background. OBS also supports image formats including JPG and GIF; transparency depends on the format. Keep ticker copy short enough to read at the intended output size.
- Create a scene and add the video. In OBS, add a Media Source, select the video file, and confirm that playback and audio work. Media Sources support formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM. Enable looping only if you want the clip to repeat.
- Add the logo. Add an Image Source, select the logo file, then resize and position it in the scene preview.
- Add the ticker. For static text, add a Text Source and enter the message; OBS also documents reading text from a file. For a custom layout or scrolling ticker, add a Browser Source that displays a local page or URL designed to show the ticker. OBS documents these source types, but does not provide a built-in scrolling-ticker recipe in the cited guide.
- Set the layer order. In the Sources list, move the logo and ticker above the video source. Arrange them in the preview so the graphics remain visible without obscuring important parts of the video. Check readability at the intended output dimensions.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select a stream. In OBS streaming settings, choose YouTube if it is available, or enter the YouTube stream URL and the matching stream key. Keep the key private. Start encoder output and check the incoming preview in Live Control Room; follow the start procedure shown for the stream you selected.
- Run a test before the scheduled broadcast. OBS recommends testing settings for a few minutes. Check the video, audio, logo placement and ticker content using a test stream or a private/unlisted workflow appropriate for your channel.
Make the ticker readable and reliable
- Preview the complete frame rather than judging the logo or ticker in isolation; the video may contain details or captions that the overlays cover.
- Use a browser-based graphic when you need movement or a custom ticker layout. Confirm the page renders as intended in OBS and remains available during the broadcast.
- If ticker text is read from a file, check the displayed text after editing the file. This can make updates easier, but it does not itself create scrolling animation.
- Check audio as well as picture during the test. A correctly layered scene does not guarantee the selected media source is playing the expected sound.
Alternative workflows and their limits
OneStream Live
OneStream Live’s help guide documents selecting prerecorded video, adding an image overlay or logo, setting its position and size, selecting destinations, entering stream details and scheduling the broadcast. The cited guide does not document ticker support, so verify current product documentation before relying on it for a ticker. It should not be treated as a confirmed all-in-one logo-and-ticker solution based on that guide alone.

YouTube Premiere
A Premiere is not established by the sources cited here as equivalent to an encoder-fed live broadcast. If you are considering one, check YouTube’s current documentation and confirm that its format meets your requirements before substituting it for a live encoder stream.

Before broadcasting, make sure you have the rights needed for the video, music, logo and ticker content. A prerecorded format does not remove copyright obligations. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume the same archive outcome for streams lasting 12 hours or longer. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Logo or ticker is hidden | Its source is underneath the video in the Sources list. | Move the image and text/browser source above the video, then inspect the scene preview. |
| Ticker is visible but does not scroll | A basic Text Source displays text; it is not a built-in scrolling ticker. | Use a browser overlay or another graphics treatment that supplies the desired animation. |
| YouTube does not receive the OBS stream | The stream URL or key may be missing or mismatched. | Compare OBS settings with the URL and key for the selected stream in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. |
| Video repeats unexpectedly | Looping is enabled on the Media Source. | Turn off looping if the file should play once; enable it only for a repeating stream. |
| The preview looks correct but the broadcast has a problem | A test may not have checked all components or the scene changed afterward. | Test the final scene, including audio and ticker content, for a few minutes before the scheduled broadcast. |
