Set the documented load.jsdelay option to a number of milliseconds. For example, 1200 allows 1.2 seconds after the page has loaded before wkhtmltoimage produces output. The wait can end sooner if page JavaScript calls window.print(), so it is not always a guaranteed minimum delay.
What the delay does
The official settings reference describes load.jsdelay as a wait after the page has loaded and before output is produced. Its example value is 1200 milliseconds (1.2 seconds). Image settings inherit the load.* settings, so this setting applies to wkhtmltoimage. See the official settings documentation.

The documented wait ends when the interval expires or JavaScript calls window.print(), whichever happens first. A page signal can therefore cause output before the configured time elapses.

Run the capture against the target page and inspect the image. Confirm the installed binary accepts the option and that the expected content appears.

A fixed interval gives the page extra time; it does not confirm that a particular API request, animation, or JavaScript-rendered widget has finished. If a required element appears at variable times, a longer delay may still capture too early on a slow run and waste time on a fast one.

Where the page can signal readiness, the documented window.print() behavior can end the wait early. If the site relies heavily on dynamic JavaScript and a reliable capture remains difficult, the wkhtmltopdf project maintainer recommends considering Puppeteer or one of its wrappers. That is maintainer guidance, not a universal comparison of tools. The project status page also notes that its WebKit engine is old. Read the project status page.
