Follow the activation prompts. Fifth Third also supports activation online or by phone at 800-621-2554. Debit cards can be activated too, but Fifth Third’s published materials do not establish the same in-app menu path for them.
Activate a Fifth Third credit card in the app

Open the official Fifth Third mobile app and sign in. If you have not enrolled in mobile banking, register first; Fifth Third lists a Fifth Third debit, ATM, or credit card number, or your Social Security number, as possible initial user IDs in its Mobile Banking FAQs.

Tap the account associated with your credit card.

Follow the activation prompts displayed in the app. Fifth Third says an activated card can immediately be used for purchases.

If you have a debit card
Fifth Third confirms that debit cards can be activated through its app, online, or by phone. However, its official information does not give a debit-card app sequence matching the credit-card path above. Use the app’s own prompts; if you cannot find an activation option, activate online or call 1-800-621-2554, the number listed in Fifth Third’s Debit Card FAQs.
Other ways to activate the card

Online banking: Go to Fifth Third’s Activate Your Fifth Third Bank Card page and follow the prompts. For a first online login, Fifth Third says a new card number can serve as the initial user ID and the Card PIN as the initial password; you will then be prompted to create an exclusive online banking password.

Phone: Call 800-621-2554. Fifth Third lists this number for card activation in its Consumer Banking Welcome Kit.

If Manage Card is missing or activation fails

Confirm that you opened the account associated with the credit card, rather than another account.

If the option still does not appear or the app flow fails, use Fifth Third online banking or call the activation number above.

Use Fifth Third’s official app or website, and verify the phone number against the bank’s site or your card materials.
Activation is different from adding a card to a digital wallet
Activating the card enables its use for purchases. Adding it to Apple Pay, Google Wallet, or another digital wallet is a separate, optional setup; see Fifth Third’s Digital Wallet information for that process.
