If you can’t run Mistral Large 4 on your own hardware, the confirmed hosted option as of October 9, 2026, is its public-preview API through Mistral Studio. Mistral says you can try the preview API there. You’ll need to activate payment to enable API keys, and should check your account’s plan and usage settings before sending requests.

Use the Mistral Studio preview API

  1. Open Mistral Studio. Choose the Mistral Large 4 public-preview API. Mistral’s October 6, 2026 launch announcement says, “You can try the preview API today on Mistral Studio.” Mistral AI’s launch announcement identifies the preview route.
  2. Set up API access. Follow Mistral’s API quickstart. It says payment activation is required to enable API keys. The quickstart’s example uses the chat endpoint and the mistral-large-latest alias; check the current model documentation to confirm the identifier to use for Large 4 before implementing it.
  3. Review plan and usage controls. Mistral says account plans apply across Studio, API, and Vibe Code, with usage drawing on a shared monthly allowance. Whether you can continue after that allowance is used depends on your pay-as-you-go settings. Check those details in your account before making requests. See Mistral’s plan and usage information.

What the preview costs and supports

Mistral’s model documentation labels Large 4 as public preview, lists a 1 million-token context window, and displays these API rates: $0.68 per million input tokens, $0.07 per million cached input tokens, and $2.09 per million output tokens. These are vendor-listed prices, not an estimate of what a particular workload will cost. Confirm current rates and how your plan applies before purchasing or using the API; pricing and account terms can change. See the Mistral Large model documentation.

The same documentation lists 52 billion active parameters, 1.05 trillion total parameters, and a 1.6 billion-parameter vision encoder. Mistral’s October 6 announcement instead gives 49 billion active parameters and describes the model as one trillion parameters. The official sources therefore conflict on the active-parameter figure; neither figure should be treated as settled without checking for a correction. These are vendor-published specifications, not independent performance measurements.

Are other hosted or local routes confirmed?

The October 6 announcement said model weights were expected by the end of October 2026. As of October 9, that was a future plan, not confirmation that weights had been released. The evidence available at that date does not establish that you could download Large 4 and run it locally.

Mistral’s general inference information says open-weight models can be downloaded from Hugging Face and that enterprise customers can deploy models on premises or in their own cloud, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. That general guidance does not confirm that Large 4 weights were already available or that Large 4 could be accessed through any of those cloud providers at the time. The launch announcement also says organizations needing sovereign, auditable AI for security operations will be able to run the model on private cloud or on premises, but does not provide deployment requirements, timing, or purchasing terms. See Mistral’s inference and deployment information.

Accordingly, the Mistral Studio preview API is the only confirmed hosted access route in the cited information as of October 9, 2026. Third-party hosting and the availability and terms of enterprise deployments are not established there.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
