Browse the emoji and tap one to insert it. Tap ABC when you want to return to the regular letter keyboard.

Browse categories and recent emoji
Swipe through the emoji, or tap the category symbols below the keyboard to jump to a group. The recent items area provides quick access to emoji you have used recently.

Search or use a suggestion
The emoji keyboard can be searched by name. In Messages, after opening the emoji keyboard, a word you typed may also be offered for replacement with an emoji.

For emoji that support variations, touch and hold the emoji, drag to the skin tone you want, and release to select it.

Add Emoji if the keyboard is missing

Open Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.

Tap Add New Keyboard, then choose Emoji.

Return to a text field and use the Emoji button or Next Keyboard key to switch to it.
Use Dictation to enter an emoji
Where supported, tap the Dictate button and say the name of an emoji—for example, “heart emoji.” Dictation commands and availability depend on language and region.
