What the base station does
Think of the A50 X base station as both a console video passthrough hub and the headset’s wireless connection point. Console HDMI runs through the station to the display, while the station links the headset over Logitech LIGHTSPEED wireless. With Xbox, PS5 and PC or Mac connected, PLAYSYNC switches the headset’s active system when you tap its button. How to connect Xbox, PS5 and PC or Mac
Xbox Series X|S
- Connect the Xbox to an HDMI input on the base station with an HDMI cable.
- Connect the base station’s HDMI output to the display.
- Use the headset’s PLAYSYNC button to select Xbox after connecting the headset to the station wirelessly.
PlayStation 5
- Connect the PS5 to an HDMI input on the base station.
- Connect the station’s HDMI output to the display.
- Select PS5 using the headset’s PLAYSYNC button.
PC or Mac
- Connect the computer to the base station over USB-C. Logitech specifies USB-C for the computer connection, rather than the console HDMI video path.
- Select the computer with the PLAYSYNC button.
Logitech says HDMI cables are required for the full experience and that HDMI 2.1-certified cables are needed for optimal video passthrough. The cables are sold separately. Check that the cables, console, display and their settings all support the video mode you want; the base station’s maximum specification cannot make an incompatible part of the chain deliver that mode. Logitech lists passthrough up to 4K at 120 Hz, with three HDMI 2.1 ports, 40 Gbps bandwidth, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every game, console configuration, display or cable path will output 4K/120 Hz. The source, display, settings and HDMI cables must support the mode together. The product page recommends HDMI 2.1-certified cables for optimal passthrough.

What audio does it support on each platform?
Audio features differ by platform; the format names should not be read as applying identically to every connection. Logitech lists:
- Xbox: Dolby Atmos, Game/Chat mixing and up to 16-bit/48 kHz console USB audio.
- PlayStation 5: PS5 3D Audio, Game/Chat mixing and up to 16-bit/48 kHz console USB audio.
- PC or Mac: Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic, Game/Chat mixing, G HUB customization and up to 24-bit/48 kHz PC USB audio.
The audio figures are Logitech’s specifications; they do not establish independent measurements of sound quality.

Charging, status and wireless range
The base station is a magnetic charging cradle. Its LED panel reports the headset’s remaining battery and selected system. Logitech states up to 24 hours of battery life and a maximum wireless connection range of 12 m; both figures are manufacturer claims, not independently measured results. What to check if the setup does not deliver the expected video mode
- Confirm that the console, display and game or system settings support the target resolution and refresh rate.
- Check the whole HDMI path, including the station’s input and output connections, and use HDMI 2.1-certified cables for optimal passthrough as Logitech recommends.
- For a PC or Mac connection, use USB-C; the console HDMI passthrough arrangement is not the specified computer connection.
