PlayStation Store gift cards add funds to a PlayStation account wallet, but the voucher’s country or region must match the account’s country or region. PlayStation says you cannot change an account’s country or region after creating it, so check the account before buying a card. Wallet funds are also generally non-refundable and non-transferable under PlayStation’s US terms, subject to local law.
Check the account region before buying a gift card
A voucher bought in one country may not work on an account registered in another, even if the card’s currency seems familiar. PlayStation requires the voucher region and account country or region to match. Physical vouchers indicate their region. PlayStation’s account-region guidance also says an account’s country or region cannot be changed after creation.

- Sign in to Account Management.
- Open Your Information, then Edit your Residential Address. The account region appears there. The PlayStation App also has an account-information route.
- Compare that region with the country or region printed on the gift card or voucher before purchasing it.
Store catalogs and services differ by region, so a card’s denomination or currency alone does not establish that it can be redeemed on a particular account.

What a PlayStation Store gift card can do
A PlayStation Store voucher can add funds to the account wallet, and a voucher can also be redeemed during checkout. PlayStation’s Australian voucher guide describes 12-digit codes, one-time use and region matching; check the local voucher terms for your country because redemption details and conditions can vary. See PlayStation’s Australian voucher instructions for the redemption mechanism.

- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Before buying, also check the voucher’s own terms for any expiry or other restrictions. PlayStation’s guidance does not establish one universal expiry period for every gift card.
How wallet funds work—and what they cannot do
Under PlayStation’s US terms, an account has an associated virtual wallet. It can receive funds from an outside payment method or a voucher or prepaid-card redemption. Wallet funds can pay for PlayStation Store purchases and certain third-party services, but the terms say they have no value outside PlayStation services. A maximum wallet balance applies; the cited terms do not establish a universal numeric cap, so check the current terms for your country before adding a large amount. Read the US PlayStation Network terms and applicable local terms.

The US terms state that wallet funds are non-refundable and non-transferable except where the law requires. Do not assume you can cash them out, transfer them to another account or obtain a refund. The applicable local law and current local terms govern any exception.

Payment options, child accounts, and family spending
Accepted payment methods vary by country or region. PlayStation’s US support page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay and Cash App Pay; that list is specific to US support guidance, not a worldwide list. Check the payment methods accepted in your country or region.

Under PlayStation’s US guidance, child accounts cannot add funds directly. A child’s Store purchases draw on the family manager’s wallet, subject to the monthly spending limit set for that child account. Check the family manager’s wallet balance and the child’s limit before troubleshooting a declined purchase.

If you are buying downloadable add-on content for a game on disc, check the disc game’s licensed region on its packaging or ask the retailer. PlayStation warns that add-on content cannot be used with a disc game when their regions do not match. The account region, voucher region and game-disc region are distinct checks; a voucher that redeems successfully does not establish that an add-on will work with a particular disc.

If a wallet payment or voucher does not work
- Voucher rejected: Recheck that the voucher country or region matches the account and follow the voucher’s local redemption instructions. Codes are one-time use, so check transaction history if you think it was already redeemed.
- Wallet funding fails: Confirm that the payment method is accepted in your country or region. PlayStation recommends trying another supported method or a PlayStation voucher, and checking PlayStation service status.
- Funds or a purchase are missing: Check account transaction history before contacting support. PlayStation’s Store troubleshooting guidance covers payment and missing-purchase checks.
A quick checklist before you spend
- Confirm the recipient account’s country or region in Account Management.
- Buy a voucher marked for that same region; do not rely on currency as a compatibility test.
- For a disc game add-on, verify that the add-on and disc game regions match.
- For a child account, check the family manager’s wallet and the child’s monthly spending limit.
- Review the voucher terms and the current local PlayStation rules for payment options, wallet limits and refunds.
