In the U.S., most PlayStation Store digital games and add-ons can be refunded within 14 days only if downloading or streaming has not started. PlayStation lists exceptions and separate rules for pre-orders, subscriptions, consumables, season passes, bundles, wallet funds and retailer-bought codes.
U.S. PlayStation Store refund rules by purchase type
PlayStation’s U.S. policy, checked October 4, 2026, makes eligibility depend on what you bought, when you bought it, and whether you have started using or accessing it. The table summarizes the published conditions; the details and request channels are on PlayStation’s refund policy and request page.

What counts as starting a download or using content?
Downloads and streaming
For games, add-ons, pre-orders and season passes, starting a download or streaming generally removes ordinary refund eligibility, even if you have not finished installing or playing. PlayStation’s stated exception is faulty content. Automatic Downloads can start a pre-order download without you manually selecting it, so check that setting if you intend to cancel.

If you bought a consumable through the Store rather than inside the game, PlayStation says the game must not have been launched after the purchase for the 14-day cancellation condition to apply. A consumable purchased during gameplay is delivered immediately and is not cancellable unless faulty.

Subscription trial and use
The 14-day subscription period begins with the initial transaction, and time spent in a free trial counts toward it. PlayStation says use may reduce the refund amount. Its eligibility checklist distinguishes the initial payment from recurring subscription fees.
How to request a PlayStation refund
- Check the policy for your purchase. Confirm the purchase date, type, and whether downloading, streaming, a game launch or other use has begun. For a subscription, identify the initial transaction date.
- Open PlayStation’s refund request page. Use the online assistant or contact PlayStation Support through the official U.S. refund page. In some cases, the account’s transaction history may offer a request option; if it does not, contact support.
- Have your account and purchase details ready. PlayStation asks for your Online ID, sign-in email address and the name of the purchase.
- Wait for the refund to be processed. PlayStation says it may take 30 to 60 days. It returns funds to the original payment method when possible; otherwise, it credits the PlayStation wallet.
Purchases that use a different route
Turning off subscription renewal
Canceling a subscription or turning off renewal stops future charges; it is not the same as requesting a refund for the initial transaction. Submit a refund request separately if you believe that first payment meets the eligibility conditions.

Wallet top-ups and voucher codes
U.S. PlayStation Store wallet top-ups cannot be cancelled. A voucher code purchased from another retailer is outside PlayStation Store’s refund policy, so contact the seller. Codes purchased through PlayStation Direct have a separate process; use PlayStation’s guidance to find the appropriate route.
Rules outside the United States
This article covers the U.S. PlayStation Store policy, not a worldwide rule. PlayStation notes that local law may provide additional rights, and its UK refund policy is published separately.
