How Often Does ChatGPT Recommend ADP, PayPal, and HubSpot?

There is no comparable published rate for ChatGPT recommendations of ADP, PayPal, and HubSpot. Here’s how to distinguish a mention, endorsement, and citation—and how to measure them consistently.

There is no comparable published figure showing how often ChatGPT recommends ADP, PayPal, or HubSpot. A meaningful answer requires a defined set of prompts, repeated observations, and a clear distinction between a company being mentioned, positively recommended, or cited as a source. Without those controls, a percentage or ranking would be misleading.

What “ChatGPT recommends” needs to mean

A brand appearing in an answer is not necessarily an endorsement. A useful comparison should record separate outcomes rather than treating every appearance as a recommendation:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Brand mention: ADP, PayPal, or HubSpot appears in the answer, whether or not the answer favors it.
  • Explicit positive recommendation: ChatGPT advises the user to choose, consider, or use the company for the stated need. A neutral list or factual description does not qualify.
  • Citation or link: The answer links to a page or identifies a source. This is distinct from naming a brand; a source can be cited without the brand being mentioned.
  • Prompt coverage: The share of tracked prompts in which a brand appears at least once. This measures appearance, not positive recommendations.
  • Relative position: Whether one of the three brands is favored over the others in the same answer, and where each appears in any ranked list.

For example, a response that names PayPal in a neutral comparison would count as a mention, but not as an explicit recommendation unless it clearly advises the user to choose PayPal. A link to a source about payments would count as a citation only if the answer includes that link or source.

Why one sample cannot establish a reliable frequency

ChatGPT answers can change over time, and results can depend on the prompt and answer-engine conditions. ChatGPT Search answers should therefore be measured separately from answers produced without search, and neither should be combined with results from other answer engines such as Gemini or Perplexity.

To make “how often” interpretable, a comparison would need to disclose:

  • The exact prompts and why they represent the intended reader’s questions.
  • The dates and number of repeated runs for each prompt.
  • Whether ChatGPT Search was enabled, and the product or model condition being measured.
  • Any relevant geography or account conditions.
  • The definitions used for a mention, an explicit positive recommendation, a citation, and a relative preference.
  • Counts and denominators, such as the number of prompts with a positive recommendation out of the total prompts tested.

Repeating a fixed prompt set over multiple days or weeks helps reveal whether a result is persistent or a one-time answer. HubSpot’s AEO documentation likewise says tracked prompts run daily and advises reviewing multiple days or weeks because responses change over time. That guidance supports careful measurement; it is not a published recommendation-frequency result for these three companies.

What HubSpot’s visibility metrics can—and cannot—show

HubSpot’s documentation defines brand visibility as how often a brand is mentioned among tracked prompts. Its prompt-coverage metric is the percentage of those prompts where the brand appears at least once. It also describes consistency across answer engines and competitor presence; its share-of-voice metric compares a brand’s mentions with total competitor brand mentions across the tracked prompts. These measures can help organize a brand-visibility review, but they are not interchangeable with the share of ChatGPT answers that explicitly recommend a company.

The same documentation distinguishes citations from mentions: a source can be cited without naming the associated brand. Its citation reporting can count a webpage link or a domain embedded in an answer. A citation therefore does not, by itself, show endorsement.

HubSpot’s public AI Search Sensor is a broader landscape dashboard, not a specific-brand visibility report for ADP, PayPal, and HubSpot. Its methodology says AI-visibility benchmarks are estimates based on public information, top products, competitors, and assumed customer profiles; traffic and citation trends draw on anonymized HubSpot customer data. HubSpot says the sensor refreshes daily and that answer-engine model changes can alter results. Those estimates and trends should not be presented as an independent, controlled comparison of the three companies’ recommendation rates.

There is also an important context when interpreting HubSpot’s measurement products: HubSpot is one of the companies named in this comparison and the provider of the AEO documentation and Sensor described here. Its definitions and product capabilities are relevant, but they do not establish that HubSpot itself is recommended more or less often than ADP or PayPal.

What the published numbers actually describe

HubSpot’s AEO documentation, last updated August 27, 2026, lists the following monthly-answer and daily-prompt limits. These are documentation-listed plan limits, not recommendation counts or guaranteed permanent allowances.

How to measure the three companies fairly

  1. Define the audience and question set. Choose prompts that reflect real software-buying questions, such as requests for payroll, payments, or customer-relationship-management software. Keep wording and criteria fixed across companies.
  2. Set the answer-engine condition. Record whether each run uses ChatGPT Search or another condition. Keep other engines in separate datasets rather than combining their results.
  3. Repeat observations. Run the same prompts on a stated schedule over multiple days or weeks, recording the date and any relevant account or geography conditions.
  4. Code each result consistently. Count brand mentions, explicit positive recommendations, citations or links, prompt coverage, and relative position as separate measures. Do not treat a neutral mention or a citation as a recommendation.
  5. Publish the denominator and counts. For every reported rate, show the number of qualifying answers and the total observations—for example, positive recommendations divided by all completed runs—along with the dates and number of repeats.

This design would support a bounded statement about the prompts and conditions tested. It would not establish a universal rate for every ChatGPT user, query, date, or product configuration.

Website access and advertising are separate from organic recommendations

OpenAI says any public website can appear in ChatGPT Search and recommends that publishers avoid blocking OAI-SearchBot if they want content to be discoverable and cited. This is an access guideline, not a promise that ChatGPT will mention or recommend a business.

OpenAI also documents a workflow connecting ChatGPT Ads with HubSpot, where users can view campaign impressions, clicks, contacts, customers, and cost inside HubSpot. Those are paid-advertising measurements, not evidence of organic ChatGPT recommendations for HubSpot, ADP, or PayPal.

Can businesses track their own visibility?

HubSpot AEO is one option described in the official documentation for tracking prompts, comparing competitors, analyzing citations, and reviewing recommendations. HubSpot lists the plan limits above, and its documentation says tracked prompts run daily. Because HubSpot is also a company being discussed here, its measurement definitions should be treated as product documentation—not as independent evidence that it performs better in ChatGPT answers. No affiliate participation, eligibility, commission, or tracked signup arrangement is established by the sources cited here.
