How much extra free space should you leave?
No official source gives a precise extra-space allowance for installing or updating the iPhone version. The 3.8 GB listing is not a promise that exactly 3.8 GB of free space will be enough: an update may need temporary working space, and the final installed footprint can differ from the listed download size. Check the available storage on your iPhone and follow the space requirement shown by the live App Store install or update prompt. Avoid treating a specific buffer as official guidance.
