Those are plan starting points, not quotes for an AI application: your bill depends on memory, throughput, network use, cloud provider, region, and features such as replicas or search indexes. Estimate those requirements first, then price a specific configuration and compare it with actual billing after launch.
How much does Redis Cloud cost?
Redis’s pricing page lists these public starting points. Redis notes that prices vary by cloud provider and region, and a workload’s configuration can change the total.
| Plan | Published entry point | Billing model and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | A 30 MB Essentials option intended for learning and test projects, according to Redis’s Essentials plan documentation. |
| Essentials | From $0.007/hour; the pricing page displays a $5/month total | Fixed monthly price for a single database. Intended for lower-throughput workloads. |
| Pro | From $0.014/hour; $200/month minimum | Capacity-based hourly pricing, with a minimum. Supports larger databases, higher throughput, and multiple databases. |
Essentials and Pro are not simply different sizes at the same rate. Essentials is a fixed monthly plan for one database, while Pro charges by capacity and time. Use the posted starting figures to orient a comparison, not as a forecast. The current Essentials documentation says its new and upgraded tiers were updated in December 2025; prices and limits can change, so check the live pages for your region and provider.
Which Redis Cloud plan fits an AI workload?
Start with the role Redis will play. An AI application might use it for response caching, sessions, conversational or agent memory, vector records and search indexes, semantic routing, or rate limits. Each role has different retention, data-size, and access patterns; a cache of short-lived responses is not equivalent to a persistent vector index.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Essentials: a fixed-price starting point
Redis’s standard Essentials RAM plans list sizes of 30 MB, 250 MB, 1 GB, 2.5 GB, 5 GB, and 12 GB. The same plan table lists maximum connections of 30, 256, 1,024, 2,500, 5,000, and 10,000, respectively; monthly network limits of 5 GB, 100 GB, 200 GB, 400 GB, 800 GB, and 2,000 GB; and maximum throughput of 100, 1,000, 2,000, 4,000, 8,000, and 16,000 operations per second.
Those are tier-specific ceilings, not a promise that every application will achieve the listed throughput. Redis says the throughput figures assume 1 KiB requests and may be capped by achieved MB/s. The documentation also offers separate Redis Flex options that pair RAM with SSD storage; their limits differ from standard RAM plans. Compare the table for the specific Essentials type you plan to use rather than applying RAM-only limits to Flex.

Pro: capacity-based options
Pro billing units reflect memory and throughput capacity. Redis’s cost report documentation gives examples including Pico (100 MB and 100 ops/sec), Nano (500 MB and 500 ops/sec), Micro (1 GB and 1,000 ops/sec), High-throughput (2.5 GB and 25,000 ops/sec), Small (12.5 GB and 12,500 ops/sec), and Large (25 GB and 25,000 ops/sec). These examples are capacity labels, not a complete price list: unit rates vary by provider and region, minimums apply, and additional unit types include Auto Tiering and Flex.
How do I estimate Redis usage for an AI application?
A useful estimate has five stages. Work through the application’s actual data and traffic rather than choosing a tier from a headline monthly price.

- Define what Redis stores. List each use—such as cached model responses, sessions, agent memory, embeddings, search indexes, routing state, or rate-limit counters. For each, record the number of live records, retention or expiry behavior, expected growth, and the queries and writes it generates.
- Estimate the full memory limit. Add up approximate serialized values and keys, then account for feature and index data. Redis’s sizing documentation says the memory limit includes values, keys, module data, and overhead from enabled features. Search databases need room for index size. High availability, replication, and Active-Active also increase memory needs. Essentials plan size is the full memory limit; for Pro, you provide dataset size and Redis calculates total memory based on selected features. Redis does not give a universal overhead percentage for every AI workload, so measure your actual representation and feature configuration instead of applying an assumed multiplier.
- Measure operations and network transfer. Track peak and sustained operations per second, request and response sizes, concurrent connections, and expected monthly transfer. Model the Redis calls in the real flow: a user prompt may trigger a cache lookup, a vector search, writes to memory, or several agent steps. It is not necessarily one Redis operation. Check Essentials throughput and bandwidth limits against your request sizes; Pro capacity also determines throughput and compute/network allocation.
- Choose availability and architecture requirements. Decide whether the application needs high availability, replicas, Active-Active across regions, private connectivity, persistence or backups, or Flex storage. These choices can change memory requirements and cost. Select the cloud provider and region where the database will run because Redis prices vary by both.
- Price the proposed configuration, then revise it. Use the Redis Cloud console’s create/review flow or a supported API operation with
dryRun: trueto evaluate a proposed subscription or database change before applying it. The dry-run documentation explains that Pro estimate cost is unit price multiplied by quantity. In Redis-managed cloud accounts, a minimum subscription price may apply if summed shard costs fall below the floor. If you bring your own AWS account, the dry-run response can show required AWS resources without pricing them; those costs depend on your AWS account. Keep the region and configuration with the estimate so you can compare like for like.
How to compare an estimate with the bill
After deployment, compare the forecast with observed usage and charges, then adjust capacity or architecture if they diverge. Redis’s monthly cost report breaks costs down by subscription, database, and billing unit, including memory limit, throughput, billing-unit count, unit price per hour, active hours, and total cost. It uses list prices and excludes account-specific discounts.
When reconciling totals, note two reporting details: Pro network charges are not included before November 2025 in the report, and network charges are subscription-level rather than database-level and can take up to 72 hours to appear. Redis’s FOCUS-compatible report documentation describes list, contracted, and effective costs and includes region and SKU details. Use the effective cost view when you need to account for contracted terms rather than treating list price as the invoice amount.

What to compare before choosing
- Fixed monthly Essentials pricing versus hourly, capacity-based Pro pricing and applicable minimums.
- Full memory fit, including keys, feature data, indexes, and replication—not just application payload size.
- Expected peak throughput, request sizes, connection counts, and network transfer against the selected plan’s limits.
- Availability and architecture needs, including replicas, Active-Active, persistence, private connectivity, and RAM-plus-SSD Flex.
- Cloud provider, region, and whether the displayed figure is a list estimate or reflects account-specific discounts and terms.
There is no established universal monthly bill for an AI application on Redis Cloud. A meaningful price requires a concrete workload, region, provider, capacity, and feature configuration; use the configuration estimate as a starting forecast and actual reports to validate it.
