IBM Video Streaming’s US pricing page lists starting prices of $154 per month for Silver, $773 for Gold, and $1,550 for Platinum. Those tiers include 100, 2,000, and 5,000 viewer hours, respectively. A continuous YouTube stream’s actual IBM bill cannot be confirmed from those prices alone: IBM’s reviewed pages do not establish whether YouTube-only viewers count toward IBM usage or document a direct IBM-to-YouTube delivery workflow.
IBM Video Streaming’s published US starting prices
IBM’s US pricing page, accessed in 2026, lists the following starting prices and allowances. The page does not state a publication year, and these are not guaranteed quotes for every location or account.

IBM lists HD transcoding, ticket and chat support, a live monitoring console, embed control, and API access across the named self-service tiers. These are the published tier details, not a guarantee that a particular configuration or YouTube workflow is included. See IBM Video Streaming pricing.
Why a 24/7 stream may cost more than the starting price
Viewer-hours depend on both time and audience
Viewer hours accumulate across viewers and time. For example, one person watching continuously for a 30-day month would generate 720 viewer hours if every hour counted under IBM’s billing rules. Two continuous viewers would generate 1,440 hours under that same assumption. The number of channels or the fact that a stream runs around the clock does not, by itself, establish the viewer-hour total.

Published overage rates for newer subscriptions
For subscriptions started in or after January 2026, IBM lists these charges for additional viewer hours. Rates vary by subscription start date, so verify the rate that applies to your account before estimating costs. IBM says overages are billed monthly and may take up to two billing cycles to appear on an invoice. See IBM’s overage charge information.

Under the 30-day, one-viewer assumption, 720 hours would exceed Silver’s 100 included hours by 620. At the listed $0.77 rate for subscriptions started in or after January 2026, that would be $477.40 in illustrative overages; adding the $154 starting price gives $631.40. This is arithmetic for a scenario, not an IBM quote or invoice estimate. The calculation assumes all 720 hours count as IBM viewer hours and excludes any other applicable charges or terms.

Is IBM’s price an all-in cost for a YouTube stream?
Not on the evidence IBM’s reviewed pricing and support pages provide. They do not say whether viewers watching only on YouTube count toward IBM viewer-hour billing, and they do not document a direct IBM-to-YouTube destination setup. IBM describes Video Streaming as a live and on-demand video service with open or password-protected channels and embeds, and says it supports simultaneous live streams to multiple channels for 24 hours a day or longer. That capability statement does not establish a YouTube relay or how its audience would be billed. Review IBM’s pricing details and its subscription-plan information, then ask IBM to confirm the intended delivery path and viewer-hour accounting for your account before treating a tier price as your total cost.
What YouTube requires is a separate question
YouTube’s creator workflow uses an encoder that sends video to YouTube using a stream URL and key. YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders and recommends RTMPS. That documentation does not show that IBM Video Streaming itself can be configured as the YouTube destination. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide and stream settings guidance.

- A channel must be verified and without recent live-stream restrictions; first-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available.
- YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours.
- YouTube recommends testing before going live, monitoring stream health, and checking upload bandwidth. It says expensive equipment is not necessary to get started; professional-grade hardware encoders are recommended for higher-production-value events.
These are YouTube requirements and recommendations, not extra IBM plan fees. For a 24/7 setup, confirm separately which service sends the feed to YouTube and which service measures its viewers.
IBM’s trial has a public-viewing limitation
IBM advertises a 30-day no-charge trial. However, IBM’s support information says only the account owner can view trial content, and shared channel-page URLs do not work for other viewers during the trial. It is therefore not a confirmed way to test a free stream with a public audience. See IBM’s free-trial information.
