Coolify itself can cost nothing when you self-host it, but running Coolify is not free. You pay for the server, storage, bandwidth, backups and your own operations. Coolify Cloud currently costs $5 per month for up to two connected servers, plus $3 per month for each additional connected server; that subscription manages the Coolify control plane, while you still provide and pay for the servers running your applications and databases. The documented self-hosted starting point is 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM and 10 GB of free disk, although production workloads need more headroom.
Antihost offers VPS plans with one-click Coolify, NVMe storage and a 14-day free trial.
The two parts of a Coolify bill
Coolify is an open-source deployment platform. Its price and your infrastructure price are separate decisions:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Platform fee: Self-hosting has no Coolify license charge. Coolify Cloud has a recurring subscription based on connected servers.
- Infrastructure: Every installation needs a machine for the control plane and, in practice, one or more machines where Docker workloads, databases, images and volumes run. You pay the provider or own the hardware.
- Operations: Self-hosting also transfers installation, updates, monitoring, firewall, SSH access, backups and recovery work to you. A Cloud subscription reduces control-plane maintenance but does not operate your application servers for you.
Coolify’s documentation describes self-hosting plainly: “Self-hosting Coolify means you run the Coolify instance on infrastructure you control.” That control is the reason the license can be free; it is not a promise of a zero-cost production environment.
How much does self-hosted Coolify cost?
License: $0
There is no self-hosted Coolify license fee. You can install the software on a supported Linux device without paying Coolify a monthly platform charge.
#1 Best Overall
Server rental or hardware: provider-specific
The largest recurring expense is the machine itself. You might rent a virtual private server (VPS), use a dedicated server or virtual machine, or run Coolify on hardware you own. The monthly total varies with region, CPU and RAM allocation, storage type and size, bandwidth allowance, billing term, snapshots and backup add-ons. Because those variables differ by provider and location, there is no honest universal VPS price for Coolify.
Storage, traffic and backups
Docker images, build caches, persistent volumes and databases consume disk independently of the Coolify software. Outbound traffic may be included up to a provider’s allowance and charged after that limit. Snapshots, managed backup storage and off-site copies can be separate line items. A low headline VPS price can therefore become a larger bill once you add durable storage and recovery copies.

Your operating time
With self-hosting, you are responsible for applying Coolify and operating-system updates, checking health and disk usage, rotating credentials, maintaining SSH and firewall rules, and testing restores. That work has no invoice from Coolify, but it is part of the real cost. If downtime or lost data is expensive, budget for monitoring and a backup process rather than treating administration as free.
Coolify’s documented resource requirements
Minimum for a self-hosted installation
Coolify documents a minimum of 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM and 10 GB of free disk. These figures are a starting baseline for the platform, not a guarantee that a busy deployment will fit. Builds, concurrent deployments, databases and image layers all consume resources beyond the control-plane footprint.
Coolify notes that a 1-core, 1-GB machine may work when minimizing cost is the overriding goal, but it is not recommended. Treat that configuration as an experiment rather than a production sizing target.
Rank #2
Coolify-only sizing versus a working production host
A 1-Click deployment guide from DigitalOcean lists 2 cores, 2 GB RAM and 30 GB storage for a Coolify-only minimum. Its production examples recommend:
| Workload | Recommended RAM | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 small applications | 4 GB | Example production sizing; still dependent on build and database load |
| 5–10 applications plus databases | 8 GB | More headroom for services, builds and database memory |
| 10 or more applications or services | 16 GB or more | Scale according to concurrency, storage and database demand |
These are capacity examples, not fixed prices. CPU, disk I/O and storage capacity can become bottlenecks before RAM does, so monitor the actual workloads and leave room for Docker images, volumes and backups.
What Coolify Cloud costs
Published subscription price
As of October 14, 2026, Coolify publishes a Cloud price of $5 per month for up to two connected servers. Each additional connected server adds $3 per month.
| Connected servers | Monthly Coolify Cloud fee | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | $5 | Base subscription |
| 3 | $8 | $5 + ($3 × 1 additional server) |
| 4 | $11 | $5 + ($3 × 2 additional servers) |
| 5 | $14 | $5 + ($3 × 3 additional servers) |
The charge is tied to connected servers, not to the number of applications running on them. Confirm the current pricing page before subscribing because prices, limits and billing terms can change.
What the subscription includes
Cloud hosts and maintains the Coolify control plane. That can remove the need to install, patch and monitor the Coolify management instance yourself. It does not make your workloads serverless: your application containers, databases, volumes and build workloads still run on infrastructure that you choose and pay for.

What you still pay and operate
- The VPS, dedicated server or other supported machine connected to Cloud.
- Persistent disk, object storage, snapshots and off-site backups.
- Bandwidth or transfer charges imposed by the infrastructure provider.
- Application-level updates, secrets, domains, databases, scaling and incident response.
For example, with two connected servers your recurring infrastructure bill is the price of those two servers and their add-ons, plus the $5 Cloud fee. Cloud changes who operates Coolify’s control plane; it does not eliminate the server bill.
Choosing infrastructure for Coolify
VPS
A VPS is the usual starting point for a small deployment. You receive a predictable slice of CPU, RAM, disk and network capacity and can resize it as your workloads grow. Compare plans in the region where your users or databases need to run, and check whether backups, IPv4 addresses, snapshots and transfer are included.
Dedicated server or virtual machine
Dedicated capacity makes sense when you need consistent CPU or disk performance, many services, or stronger isolation from neighboring tenants. It costs more up front, but noisy-neighbor effects and resource contention may be lower. A virtual machine on a larger private or public cloud offers similar control with different billing and networking trade-offs.
Raspberry Pi 5
A Raspberry Pi 5 is a legitimate low-cost physical option for experiments and small deployments because 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS is supported. The purchase price is only part of the calculation: you also need reliable storage, power, cooling, networking and a plan for replacing failed media. Its CPU, memory and disk capacity can limit builds, databases and concurrent services, so it is not a blanket substitute for a production VPS.

Provider selection
Coolify’s guidance recommends Hetzner for readers who have not selected a provider, and its provisioning workflow supports accounts from Hetzner, DigitalOcean and Vultr. Those integrations simplify setup; they do not make their prices interchangeable. Quote the exact region, billing period, disk, bandwidth and backup options you intend to use.
Self-hosted versus Cloud: a practical comparison
| Cost or responsibility | Self-hosted Coolify | Coolify Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Coolify platform fee | $0 license fee | $5/month for up to two connected servers, then $3/month per additional server |
| Workload servers | You provide and pay for them | You provide and pay for them |
| Control-plane updates | You install and maintain them | Managed by the Cloud service |
| Application and database operations | Your responsibility | Your responsibility |
| Backups and recovery | You design, pay for and test them | You still design, pay for and test workload backups |
| Capacity and upgrade headroom | Determined by your hardware or VPS plan | Determined by the servers you connect |
| Region, bandwidth and provider charges | Varies by infrastructure provider | Varies by infrastructure provider |
The decision is therefore less about “free versus paid” than about whether you want to operate the control plane. Self-hosting minimizes the software bill and maximizes administrative responsibility. Cloud adds a small, predictable platform fee in exchange for managed control-plane maintenance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to calculate your actual monthly total
Use the following model instead of quoting a generic VPS number:
- List connected servers. For self-hosting, include the machine running Coolify. For Cloud, count every server attached to the subscription.
- Get a provider quote. Record region, vCPU, RAM, disk type and size, transfer allowance, IPv4, billing period and whether backups are included.
- Add persistent data. Price database volumes, object storage, snapshots and at least one independent backup destination.
- Add platform fee. Use $0 for self-hosted licensing or $5 plus $3 for each Cloud server beyond the first two.
- Reserve growth capacity. Leave room for image layers, build spikes, migrations and database growth rather than sizing exactly to today’s usage.
- Review operational effort. Decide who will patch, monitor, respond to alerts and test restores. If you pay someone for that work, include it in the total.
In formula form, a Cloud deployment with n connected servers costs infrastructure and add-ons + $5 + ($3 × max(0, n − 2)) per month. A self-hosted deployment costs infrastructure and add-ons; its license component is zero. Neither formula includes your labor unless you assign it a value.
Common cost traps and how to avoid them
Confusing a free license with free hosting
Installing Coolify without a license bill does not provide CPU, disk, traffic or backups. Price those items before deciding that a deployment is free.
Using minimum specifications for production
The 2-core, 2-GB, 10-GB baseline can be quickly consumed by builds and persistent services. Start with measured workload requirements and expand before memory pressure or disk exhaustion causes failed deployments.
Best Value
Forgetting backup storage and restore testing
A snapshot stored on the same provider is not a complete disaster-recovery plan. Keep an independent copy where practical and periodically verify that databases and volumes can actually be restored.

A monthly price without geography, storage, transfer, backup and billing-period details is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Record those variables whenever you compare providers or move between plans.
Counting only application containers
Coolify itself, build workers, registries, databases, monitoring and staging environments all consume resources. Count the complete service set and leave headroom for simultaneous builds and deploys.
Which model fits your situation?
Choose self-hosting when
- You want zero Coolify license cost and already administer Linux servers.
- You need complete control over placement, networking, updates and data location.
- You can own the backup, monitoring and recovery responsibilities.
Choose Coolify Cloud when
- You prefer not to patch and monitor the Coolify control plane.
- A $5 monthly base fee plus per-server charges is worthwhile for reducing that maintenance.
- You still have the skills or team to operate the connected application and database servers.
Start with a small VPS or Pi when
- The deployment is experimental, has few services and can tolerate limited capacity.
- You have a clear upgrade path and backups that do not depend on the test machine.
For production, select capacity from workload and recovery requirements rather than from the lowest advertised plan. Recheck Coolify’s current pricing and your provider’s regional quote immediately before committing, since both can change.
