CaptureKit’s Free plan includes 100 credits per month at $0. A successful screenshot capture costs one credit, so that allowance can cover up to 100 successful screenshots in a billing period—but only if you spend no credits on other billable endpoints. Credits are shared across all API keys in a workspace, not granted separately to each key.
How CaptureKit’s 100-credit free allowance works
CaptureKit’s billing documentation lists its Free plan at $0 per month with 100 credits per month. Its screenshot endpoint, GET /v1/capture, costs one credit per successful capture. The practical maximum is therefore 100 successful screenshot calls if you reserve the entire workspace allowance for screenshots. Other billable CaptureKit endpoints draw from the same pool. CaptureKit’s billing plans documentation describes the quota; its credit documentation lists endpoint costs.

Which requests use credits?
- Successful synchronous capture: billed when it returns HTTP 200.
- Successful asynchronous capture: billed when the job completes successfully.
- Job-status polling: free.
- Failed jobs: not billed, according to CaptureKit’s credit documentation.
Do not assume every error response is free: CaptureKit documents endpoint-specific behavior for 404 responses, so check the relevant endpoint documentation when diagnosing an error. The capture endpoint supports PNG, JPEG/JPG, WebP, and PDF output; the output format does not change the documented one-credit cost per successful capture. See the capture endpoint reference.

The 100-credit quota applies workspace-wide. Creating another API key does not create another 100-credit allowance; every key in the workspace uses the shared pool. To see the balance and usage for your own account, check the workspace dashboard or Usage endpoint. The public plan documentation does not establish an individual account’s balance, renewal date, or current enforcement state.

How to estimate your monthly screenshot capacity
- Start with the workspace’s monthly credit allowance: 100 on Free, according to the plans documentation.
- Subtract credits used by any other billable endpoints.
- Divide the remaining credits by one, the documented cost of each successful screenshot capture.
For example, if the workspace spends 12 credits on other billable calls, up to 88 credits remain for successful screenshot captures. Polling asynchronous jobs does not reduce that balance; successful jobs do.

Do asynchronous status checks use CaptureKit credits?
No. Job-status polling is free; a successful asynchronous capture is billed when it completes.
