Samsung has not published a single, S23-wide number for the maximum stored profiles. The practical limit can vary with the exact model, region, carrier and available eSIM memory.
Stored eSIM profiles are not the same as active lines
An eSIM profile contains the subscription information and credentials that let the phone authenticate with a mobile operator. You can keep several such profiles on the S23 and switch between them, but storing them does not make them simultaneous telephone lines.
Samsung Gulf’s S23 support guidance, updated June 21, 2026, says: “Additionally, the Galaxy S23 Series allows storing multiple eSIM profiles, though only one can be active at any given time.” That is the clearest S23-specific capability statement.
What “active” means
An active profile is the one currently operating as a SIM subscription. Other downloaded profiles remain stored but are disabled until you select one of them. The S23 statement therefore does not support a claim that two eSIMs can provide service simultaneously.

Is there an official number such as 5 or 10?
No universal number is stated in Samsung’s public S23 guidance. Samsung’s general eSIM guidance, updated February 6, 2025, says the number of profiles may vary according to the phone model, carrier support and available eSIM memory.
Consequently, online claims that every Galaxy S23 stores exactly 10 profiles should not be treated as an official specification. The maximum for your handset may differ from another S23 sold in a different market or supplied by another carrier.

How SIM combinations work on the S23
| Configuration or question | What the cited Samsung material establishes |
|---|---|
| Stored eSIM profiles | Multiple profiles are supported; a universal numeric maximum is not stated for the S23. |
| Active eSIM profiles | One eSIM profile can be active at a time, according to Samsung Gulf’s S23 support page. |
| Physical SIM plus eSIM | Samsung Gulf describes one physical SIM plus one eSIM simultaneously for the series. |
| US carrier variants | Samsung US Verizon and AT&T specification sheets from 2023 list Dual SIM and Nano/eSIM for the specified variants; they do not state a stored-profile count. |
| Every regional S23 model | Not established. SIM hardware and carrier behavior can vary by market and exact model. |
A physical nano-SIM can therefore be part of a dual-SIM setup where the particular S23 variant and carrier support it. That does not change the separate limit on simultaneously active eSIM profiles.
Why the exact model and carrier matter
Regional hardware differences
The S23 Series is sold in multiple markets, and specifications are not automatically identical worldwide. Samsung’s US sheets document particular Verizon and AT&T variants, while the one-active-profile wording comes from Samsung Gulf. Together they support the broad answer for the series, not an assertion that every regional model behaves identically.

Carrier activation requirements
An eSIM profile must be issued and activated by a mobile provider. Before relying on a stored travel or secondary profile, confirm that the carrier supports eSIM on your exact S23 model and that its activation method is available in your country. Samsung directs customers to consult their mobile provider for the subscription.
Available eSIM memory
Profiles are retained in eSIM storage. The amount of memory available, and the way a carrier provisions profiles, can affect how many remain on a particular phone. Samsung does not publish a universal S23 memory figure for this purpose.

How eSIM profile storage works
Samsung Research explains that an operator’s profile server (SM-DP+) downloads subscription data and credentials to the device’s eSIM. Once a profile is enabled, the eSIM with that profile functions as a SIM card. Smartphone eSIM designs can install and manage multiple profiles, while memory limits how many can be retained.
This architecture explains the distinction between a profile library and active service: several plans may be downloaded, but only the profile allowed by the device’s S23-specific implementation is enabled for service at one time.

Does Android’s Multiple Enabled Profiles change the answer?
Android’s Multiple Enabled Profiles (MEP) documentation describes a general eSIM capability that, on supported hardware, can enable multiple profiles and connect to two carriers. It is not proof that a Galaxy S23 implements that feature.
For the S23, Samsung’s device-specific statement remains the relevant evidence: one eSIM profile can be active at any given time. Do not infer S23 support for two active eSIMs from Android’s general MEP documentation.
What to check before adding or replacing a profile
- Identify the exact S23 model number and the market in which it was sold.
- Ask your carrier whether that model is eSIM-compatible and whether your plan supports eSIM activation.
- Confirm whether the carrier permits transferring, re-downloading or reusing a profile after it is removed.
- Keep the activation QR code or carrier instructions until the profile is working; deleting a profile can require a new carrier activation.
- When traveling, decide which stored profile will be active before disabling your main line, and verify roaming or local-service requirements with both carriers.
Regional caution: mainland China guidance
Samsung China’s current mainland-China eSIM page says supported Galaxy devices purchased there can store and activate up to two eSIM profiles. Its listed model examples do not identify the Galaxy S23, so that regional figure must not be transferred to an S23 sold elsewhere—or assumed to apply to the S23 without model-specific confirmation.
Bottom line for S23 owners
Think of the Galaxy S23 as supporting a collection of eSIM profiles but a single active eSIM profile at a time. Samsung has not published one guaranteed stored-profile count for the entire S23 family. Check the phone’s exact regional variant and your carrier before depending on a particular number, especially if you plan to delete an existing profile or use an eSIM while traveling.
