Plan for roughly 150-plus hours to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both story expansions, using the broad estimate published for the Complete Edition: over 100 hours for the base game, plus 50 hours for the expansions combined. That is a publisher-facing scale estimate, not a guaranteed finish time or a precise main-story-only or completionist count.
How long are the game and expansions?
Bandai Namco’s official Complete Edition page describes the base game as an “over 100-hour long” open-world adventure and says the two expansions add an “extra 50 hours of gameplay.” Taken together, those published descriptions support a broad planning figure of more than 150 hours for the base game and both expansions.

| Content | Published estimate | What the estimate covers |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | Over 100 hours | Bandai Namco’s broad description; it does not define a particular play style. |
| Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine together | Extra 50 hours | Combined time for both story expansions, not 50 hours apiece. |
| Blood and Wine | Over thirty hours of new adventures | CD PROJEKT RED’s 2016 release announcement; it also mentions more than 90 new quests. |
The 150-plus-hour figure is best treated as an overall scale, not a stopwatch prediction. The official descriptions do not divide time consistently among the main story, side quests, exploration, and completionist play. A story-focused run may take less, while doing more optional content can take longer, but these sources do not establish reliable numeric ranges for those styles.

How long is Blood and Wine?
CD PROJEKT RED described Blood and Wine as offering “over thirty hours of brand new adventures” in its 2016 release-date announcement. An earlier 2015 announcement called it a “20-hour tale.” These are different promotional descriptions, and the publisher does not provide a shared counting method that reconciles them as one standardized estimate. They should not be added together or presented as measured averages.

What counts as “beating” the game?
Time depends on whether “beat” means completing the main story, pursuing side quests, or seeking out most available content. The cited publisher pages provide broad package estimates but no matching category-by-category figures for the base game and both expansions. As a result, the most defensible answer for a complete playthrough is the broad 150-plus-hour planning scale—not a precise finish-time promise.

The Complete Edition is described as including the base game and both major story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD PROJEKT RED identifies Hearts of Stone as the first expansion and says its Expansion Pass also contains Blood and Wine. In the distribution arrangement covered by the company’s support FAQ, the expansions are included in the base game and can still be started separately from the main menu. Check the entitlements for your own edition and platform, since inclusion and access can depend on the copy you own.
