The official information reviewed does not say how long DoorDash or Amazon keeps a customer-facing photo of a delivered order at your door. DoorDash describes general retention rules without a photo-specific schedule; Amazon Shipping confirms photo proof of delivery for most shipments but does not state how long those photos are retained. That gap is the frustrating part—not evidence that either company keeps the images for a particular length of time.
What the published information says about retention
| Company | Confirms customer delivery photos? | Photo-specific retention period | Relevant general controls or policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoorDash | The reviewed DoorDash privacy materials describe information available to Dashers, but do not establish a specific policy for submitted delivery photos. | Not stated in the sources reviewed. | DoorDash says it retains personal information while an account is active or as needed for service, transaction records, legal obligations, disputes, and agreement enforcement. Its privacy page describes account archive and deletion flows. |
| Amazon | Amazon Shipping says photo proof of delivery is available for most shipments. | Not stated in the sources reviewed. | Amazon’s general privacy notice does not specify a duration for customer-facing package-delivery photos. |
A general retention policy is not the same as a schedule for a particular image. DoorDash’s criteria explain why personal information may be retained, but they do not say whether a front-door photo falls into a particular category or how long it remains. Likewise, Amazon’s description of photo proof confirms a feature, not its storage period.

DoorDash: broad retention rules, no photo timetable
DoorDash’s California consumer privacy policy says personal information may be retained while an account is active or as needed to provide services, keep transaction records for financial reporting, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. It does not name delivery photos or give them a separate retention duration. DoorDash Privacy and the California consumer privacy policy describe the relevant controls and policy language.

DoorDash says consumers can request an account data archive or delete an account, and can contact its privacy team about other information. The reviewed page does not promise that those controls let you find or remove one specific delivery photo. It also says Dashers see information related to the order they are delivering, such as the delivery address, first name and last initial, delivery instructions, and a masked phone number. That description does not establish who can access a submitted photo or how long it is kept.

Amazon: proof of delivery is confirmed, retention is not
Amazon Shipping says it provides photo proof of delivery for most shipments. Its feature description does not state how long the customer-facing image remains available or how long Amazon retains it. Amazon Shipping also describes shipment tracking and estimated delivery updates, but those details do not answer the photo-retention question.
Amazon’s general privacy notice, last updated June 30, 2026, describes data processing across Amazon services but does not provide a specific retention period for customer-facing package-delivery photos.

Do not confuse delivery photos with worker photos
Amazon has a separate Ground Transportation notice covering photos and facial-recognition information collected in connection with transportation services. That notice says Amazon may retain those photos while a person uses Amazon Transportation Technology and afterward for as long as permitted by law. Those are worker-related photos collected for a different purpose; the notice is not evidence of how long Amazon keeps a customer’s doorstep delivery photo. The public materials reviewed do not resolve the retention period for a particular delivery image. If you need to know whether a specific photo is still held or can be deleted, contact the relevant company through its privacy or support channels and identify the delivery and date. DoorDash’s account archive and deletion options are documented, but they are not a stated guarantee that an individual delivery photo can be targeted.
