Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is an announced single-player, first-person action horror survival game built around combat, the Genesis Configuration and the Hellraiser mythos. The clearest official comparison is with Silent Hill 2: Konami frames that game as psychological horror centered on James Sunderland’s search for clues, while Saber presents Hellraiser: Revival as a first-person fight to save Aidan’s girlfriend, Sunny, from the Labyrinth. Those are comparisons of announced premise and framing—not judgments about which game is scarier or better.
What kind of survival horror game is Hellraiser: Revival?
Saber Interactive describes Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival as a single-player, first-person action horror survival game. Aidan tries to save Sunny after the Genesis Configuration brings the Cenobites into their lives. The puzzle box is both part of the story and, according to the developer, a source of gameplay powers. Saber says the story is inspired by the atmosphere, themes and mythology of the first two Hellraiser films, but is not directly connected to their plots. Xbox Wire and Saber’s PlayStation Blog post describe the premise and setting; the official FAQ identifies the genre and perspective.

The announced combat includes melee and ranged weapons, dual-wielding, and powers associated with the Genesis Configuration. Saber’s PlayStation post also describes the Scarlet Church, a cult led by Marlowe that seeks contact with the Cenobites, and the Unworthy, beings rejected and drawn to the puzzle box. These are the developer’s descriptions of the game; they do not establish how combat feels or how much of the game centers on any one enemy or faction.

How it differs from Resident Evil and Outlast
The available official material does not support a detailed comparison with Resident Evil or Outlast on combat systems, stealth, resource scarcity, difficulty or scare design. Those series may come to mind when categorizing survival horror, but claiming that Hellraiser: Revival plays like either would go beyond the announced evidence here. Its first-person perspective and stated weapons-based action are useful descriptors, not proof of a particular gameplay formula.
